Hello ALL,

I'm new to crypto currency and I have a Server Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU X5670 @ 2.93GHS two processors.

I have free electricity at work place.

Can any one advise me which coin I can mine with this hardware and how to start up.

I'm from UK.

Thanks,

Fahad

Hi.
First of all, you should move this to Altcoin Mining, since with CPU you cannot mine Bitcoin in 2017.
Second, please keep in mind that somebody does pay for the electricity and if you get caught you may lose your job; it happened...

Now, to your question: there are a few coins that can be mined with you CPU(s), Monero, Bitsend and Magi are some of the possible choices.
One thing I can advise is a miner software: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1326803.0;topicseen
You will see that a lot of algorithms are supported, you will have to find out which one gives you more money, especially since most of the algorithms are also mined with GPUs with MUCH bigger processing power than your CPUs.

Thanks Neurotic. Well I have allowance of 2500 KW of electriticy per year so I can use that allowance in minning but yes you are right. some one yesterday told me check Quark and Qubit I can mine from CPU. I am minning monero but its not worth it as with this hardware i will 4-6 monero per year which is nothing. I was thinking to mine any new coin in 100's or thousands so after 1 year or 2 when price goes up i will be in profit as I have many of them. any advise for that ? I will check Bitsend and Magi.

I will check the miner sofrware you are talking about but how I can find out which one will give me more money.

Do your own research and don't ask for handouts here.

If you are stealing your power and using hardware which you don't care about the depreciation of then everything is profit to you so mine anything.

coinwars.com / whattomine.com will show you coin mining profitability, however, not many cpu coin

CPU coins are rarely profitable - look at XZC

I don't know why you taking this negative. its in my employee benefits I can have 2 U of space in rack with 2mb bandwidth with free colling and yearly allowance of 2500kw of electricity yearly. I work in Data center. I'm not stealing . so I'm within my allowance and in T&C I cannot use them for commercially so I belive mining is not commercial. I'm just using my allowance.

do you have vga cards inside your pc? how much slots for vga cards you have in your pc? because if you don't have vga cards, i don't think that you want to trying to mining with your pc without to thinking about the heat of the pc. and if your pc don't have any vga cards, then i will suggest to you to buy vga cards then you are ready to mining the coins.

my suggestion, you can mining with altcoin which is more profitable and the altcoin have many of coins that you can mining. don't thinking that you can mining bitcoin with your pc because you will need more hashrate to get more bitcoin. so the choice will come with altcoin.

I didn't intent to seem negative, just stating facts!

Do you mean you are allocated 2500kwh a year or do you get a consistent 2.5kw power allowance? There is a big difference

Also commercially means anything done for a profit and I'm sure your T&C's mean that you should not be profiting from your allowance.

Even if you have all the electricity and the processors, the competition in hashing power is too high to get a profit from your server processors. if you are ready to invest you could get some cheap card like GTX 1050 and get started cheap.
