How do you quote someone else's post?

I guess you mean Insert Quote.  I am a good example of why the newbie forum exists.  when I hit the insert quote button all I get is quote /quote,

but if I click insert quote on the topic summary i get "quote author=Maged link=topic=177633.msg1849972#msg1849972 date=1366080408...."

is that the typical way people get the quote attributes?

just click the related button inside message form toolbar
