On Friday, Donald Trump barred citizens of seven Muslim-majority countries - Iraq, Syria, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia and Yemen - from entering the United States for at least the next 90 days.

He also suspended the US refugee programme for 120 days, specifically banning Syrian refugees until further notice, reduced the number of refugees who would be admitted this year to 50,000 and specified that refugees who were from a religious minority and fleeing religious persecution should be prioritised.

A federal judge has blocked part of Trump's executive order , ruling that travellers who have already landed in the US with valid visas should not be sent back to their home countries, and protests in response to passport holders from some Arab countries, including US green card holders, being blocked from passing through customs or prevented from boarding US-bound planes, have taken place at airports across the country.

But this is not the first time that the US has banned immigrants from its shores. Over the past 200 years, successive American presidents have placed restrictions on the immigration of certain groups.

To my knowledge this decree are now suspended throughout the United States and challenged in court. I hope that this decree will be declared unconstitutional and then we can begin impeachment proceedings.

Immigration does not help impoverished countries. Its all a lie for political gain. When you look at the numbers you'll see that bringing people from 3rd world countries into 1st world countries only does harm to their 1st world hosts.

Correcting the article, the Jews weren't banned because they fear Nazis among them, they were banned for Terrorism. By 1930's Jews were using terrorism and set a lot of bombs where is now Israel along with assassinations, such as the British consul in Cairo (1938).

This sounds lovely, but it will never happen, its not in the interest for bigger players. Wars are what drives them, they make big money out of it. I have no problem with immigrants, but it should be done slowly with many precaution, they need to adopt in new country, respect its laws and culture. I agree with you. This should be done gradually. There should be a government program of assimilation of immigrants into society. I think you need to see to it that all immigrants were employed. Then they will have less reason to commit a crime.

I don't want to point fingers at anyone. But for you all who will defeat human rights and freedom of travelling. Go visit these banned Muslim countries first.
If you will feel 100% safe, if you will be embraced by tolerance and understanding of your culture by natives of these countries, then go back to US and throw stones at Trump.
Currently FBI is undergoing an investigation of over 1000 cases of planned terrorists attacks linked to Muslims immigrants. I think this ban is an answer to that problem.
