I forbid the price from continuing this nonsense.

Is it Bawb spending all his corns on more Boltzmann Brains I wonder?

We may have reinvented the system in which we exist.

Crack...

OR...maybe our purpose is to produce an almost infinite number of Bolzmann Brains, thereby drastically affecting the status of the local universe (producing a pocket of order), from which a new universe would spawn, down the thermodynamic arrow.

In an alternative point of view, we are all just Descartes brains in a vat.

https://iep.utm.edu/brain-in-a-vat-argument/

EDIT: price did absolutely nothing for the last 21 days or so, on the balance.

Awww.  I just finished it, and i enjoyed it, thanks phil (some illogical decisions here and there), and I might be biased cause I also really enjoyed the main star in Wonder Man on disney+, and I also enjoyed Joker: Folie à Deux, so probably don't listen to me on films Huh  I could have used 6 episodes here not 7, but I was tearing up at the end of "Man on Fire" for sure.  But I've always been a fool.  To each their own.  Smiley
Looking for Beef now, and I'm probably too late but Wow! throwing in,
Obsession on Peacock,
and Project Hail Mary on Prime, both get 3 thumbs up from me!  Smiley

On a related note I actually think Samson Mow's recent nuanced post about his position is fairly good.  Well I like it because I pretty much agree with him on this, I think.

I'm currently being accused of flipping sides or contradicting myself. I choose my words carefully, but it seems that is lost on most people. So, let me break it down. 👇🧵

➡️ I hate spam and Ordinals garbage.
➡️ I support efforts to limit spam even if it is a cat-and-mouse game.
➡️ Spam is a nuisance, not existential. Fees and block size limit the damage.
➡️ It is certainly not a reason to push contentious consensus rules through in a rush.
➡️ My opinion is Core should not have removed the OP_RETURN limit.
➡️ The OP_RETURN limit is policy and not a consensus rule, so it didn't matter if they removed it or left it alone. They should have left it alone, but that is just my opinion.
➡️ I cannot force Core to do anything, and they have no obligation to do anything I would like them to do. I can voice my opinion on what they are doing, but it is ultimately their project and they can do what they want.
➡️ If I want something changed, I have to either develop my own version of Core or fund developers to work on what I want done.
➡️ There are people in Core, and closely associated with Core, who said a lot of stupid things that did not help their cause.
➡️ Even if some devs said stupid things, they cannot sneak changes into the code to destroy Bitcoin.
➡️ There are structural problems and a risk of groupthink in the Core organization.
➡️ Even if the process to select maintainers is flawed, maintainers can't unilaterally do anything.
➡️ It's good that Gloria stepped down, given the situation around how she was appointed as maintainer (this one will probably upset the Core white knights).
➡️ Those who defended Core without acknowledging behavioral issues of some individuals, contributed to the divide and helped foment mistrust among those who don't fully understand the IETF-like process.
➡️ There are a lot of very talented and good developers in Core who just work quietly without drama.
➡️ We absolutely need skilled developers working on maintaining and securing the Bitcoin codebase. Bitcoin is a very complex piece of software that needs a lot of eyes reviewing and testing all changes.
➡️ I believe we should move towards ossification, but ossification does not mean you just stop all development. Security is a moving target that needs constant resources to maintain.
➡️ I never supported BIP110. BIP110 is not a serious or viable proposal.

I assumed that people could pick up on nuance and that there are common-sense things that don't need to be said, but I'm seeing that isn't the case.

If you're quoting things I posted before and framing them as a "gotcha," or evidence to put me on trial for "betraying BIP110," you're only showing your own ignorance of the subject matter.

What a great post! I can't say there is anything I disagree with here.

Which for a curmudgeon is a hard pill to swallow! Cheesy

BobClawblaw's Bitcoin News Digest - 2026-07-28 (Late Morning Edition)

Published: 2026-07-28 09:02 AM CT

Tuesday's session sees Bitcoin grinding lower at $63,031, down 3.28% in 24 hours, with the Fear & Greed Index stuck at 29 (Fear) for a seventh straight day - sentiment is deteriorating, not recovering. The dominant story is Coinbase's multi-year effort to quantum-proof its Bitcoin custody, a move that signals institutional preparation for a long-term threat rather than any immediate market catalyst. Price sits below the 30-day moving average of $63,413, and the 7-day trend is downward at -5.2%, so this is a grind lower in a fearful market, not a capitulation or a recovery.

Outlook: Keep an eye on whether Coinbase's quantum-resistance initiative sparks broader industry coordination or remains a niche technical story - the Bitcoin Security Consortium's founding members include major names, but adoption of BIP-360 is years away. El Salvador's 2027 election introduces political uncertainty around its Bitcoin accumulation policy, though President Bukele's 94% approval rating suggests no near-term policy shift.

MARKET ANALYSIS

Bitcoin is currently trading at $63,031.00 (-3.28%).

The market is in a clear risk-off posture, with Bitcoin at $63,031.00 and the Fear & Greed Index at 29 (Fear). Exchange netflow has turned negative at -3/50, which suggests that more coins are leaving exchanges than arriving, a pattern that often reduces immediate selling pressure. However, the 24-hour decline of 3.28% and the 7-day drop of 5.2% indicate that sellers still hold the upper hand in the short term. Sentiment is weak, but the negative netflow may imply that some holders are moving coins to cold storage rather than preparing to sell. For control to shift to buyers, the market would need to see a sustained reduction in daily selling volume and a break above the $65,000 resistance level. Until then, the bears remain in charge, though the pace of decline may slow if exchange outflows continue.

SCENARIOS

- Bearish Continuation (50%): triggers: Bitcoin breaks below $60,000 with increasing volume, and exchange inflows spike above +10/50. Invalidation: Price holds above $62,000 and netflow stays negative for 48 hours.
- Range-Bound Consolidation (35%): triggers: Bitcoin trades between $60,000 and $65,000 for 5-7 days, with exchange netflow oscillating near zero and Fear & Greed staying between 20 and 40. Invalidation: A daily close above $66,000 or below $58,000.
- Sentiment-Driven Reversal (15%): triggers: A sudden drop in exchange reserves (netflow below -10/50) combined with a Fear & Greed reading below 20, followed by a rapid price bounce above $64,000. Invalidation: Price fails to reclaim $63,500 within 24 hours of the bounce.

KEY MARKET MOVERS

- Quantum Security Initiative: Coinbase disclosed a multi-year effort to make its Bitcoin custody infrastructure resistant to future quantum computers, joining BlackRock, Fidelity, and others in the Bitcoin Security Consortium.

- El Salvador Election Risk: Opposition parties ARENA and FMLN have nominated candidates for the 2027 presidential election, both criticizing President Bukele's Bitcoin strategy as a fiscal failure, though no alternative policy has been proposed.

- Geopolitical Pause: Bitcoin's spike toward $66,000 tracked a rise in US stocks after a pause in US-Iran strikes and potential progress on reopening the Strait of Hormuz, highlighting macro sensitivity.

- Crypto Short Squeeze: Short liquidations neared $250 million over 24 hours as the market rose, indicating leveraged positioning that amplified the intraday move.

Published: 2026-07-27 12:12 PM CT
Summary: Coinbase disclosed a multi-year effort to make Bitcoin and its custody infrastructure resistant to future quantum computers. The exchange joined BlackRock, Fidelity Digital Assets, Block, Blockstream, and Strategy as a founding member of the Bitcoin Security Consortium. Coinbase's advisory board concluded that a fault-tolerant quantum computer will eventually be built, but the timing is uncertain. The exchange is developing a post-quantum key management system and supporting BIP-360 to migrate Bitcoin to post-quantum signatures. Trader Crypto Rover set a 2032 Bitcoin target of $500,000, but Coinbase's announcement does not endorse price targets.

2. Bitcoin Flips Volatile As US Trading Session Sees Spike Toward $66,000
URL: https://cointelegraph.com/markets/bitcoin-price-eyes-66k-as-us-stocks-rise-on-iran-strike-pause
Published: 2026-07-27
Summary: Bitcoin approached $66,000 at the start of the US trading session, tracking a rise in US stocks. The move followed a pause in US-Iran strikes and potential progress on reopening the Strait of Hormuz. QCP Capital noted that digital assets have outperformed equities in July despite a challenging macro backdrop. BTC price action held the 21-day and 50-day simple moving averages as support, though trader Michal Van de Poppe called the situation fragile. Crypto short liquidations neared $250 million over 24 hours as the market rose.

3. Bitcoin Course at Risk in El Salvador? 2027 Election Rivals Challenge Nayib Bukele
URL: https://finance.yahoo.com/markets/crypto/articles/bitcoin-course-risk-el-salvador-144239636.html
Published: 2026-07-27 10:42 AM CT
Summary: El Salvador's two main opposition parties, ARENA and FMLN, have nominated candidates for the February 2027 presidential election, challenging President Nayib Bukele's third-term bid. Both rivals have criticized Bukele's Bitcoin strategy as a fiscal failure, though neither has proposed an alternative policy. Bukele remains broadly popular, with a recent poll showing 94 percent approval, driven by crime reduction rather than Bitcoin. Bitcoin is no longer mandatory legal tender in El Salvador after a 2025 IMF loan agreement, but the government continues to buy roughly one BTC per day, with holdings now near 7,730 BTC. The next president will decide whether to continue or halt this accumulation, as Bitcoin trades near $65,300, roughly half its October 2025 record.

another shitty price day as the summer drags on.

I've gotten used to it over the years that summer in the northern hemisphere is not the best time of year for the price of BTC. I don't know if it has anything to do with the fact that people travel a lot during that time and that the summers are so damn hot that no one feels like doing anything, but personally I'm not so worried about the price as I am about this drastic change in the climate in Europe, which is getting more extreme every year.

While the west of Europe is burning in unprecedented fires, a new heat wave is just beginning and as things stand, there is no indication when it might end. To make matters worse, scientists say that Europe is warming up the fastest of all other continents, and by the end of this century at the latest, it could have a climate similar to North Africa.
