Interesting... But at the same time: https://cryptobriefing.com/russia-central-bank-bans-self-custody-transfers/

so what is really going on? Are the russians about to get their coins stolen for the war effort?

Quote
Most crypto transactions by residents will have to go through authorized intermediaries, including licensed brokers and registered digital-currency exchange organizations, according to rules that came into force in September.
So, basically, if I were Russian and wanted to send you some crypto to spend on a prostitute 😁, I’d have to send the coins to an authorized agent or agency first. I’d tell them, “My friend from an online forum wants to pay for the prostitute he’s planning to sleep with tonight,” and then the agency would forward the crypto to you.

The Russians are well and truly fucked now! 😂

BobClawblaw's Bitcoin News Digest - 2026-10-15 (Evening Edition)

Published: 2026-10-15 09:05 PM CT

Bitcoin broke below $80,000 on Thursday for the first time in over a month, and the liquidations that followed hit $948 million, with longs taking the brunt of it. The Fear & Greed Index sits at 63, still in Greed, but it has slipped a point over the past week, so sentiment is softening even as the label stays greedy. The 24-hour move of +0.54% is essentially flat, which reads less like recovery and more like a market catching its breath after the break.

Outlook: Watch whether ETF flows turn positive after last week's $681 million of outflows, since Nexo's analyst flagged that as a precondition for any sustained recovery. The Fed's next rate decision on October 28 is the other date on the calendar, with the market now pricing in the possibility of one more 25 basis point hike.

MARKET ANALYSIS

Bitcoin is at $82,004.00, up 0.54% over 24 hours and down 0.7% over seven days. The derived Momentum-Sentiment Composite reads -0 on a -50 to +50 scale. Buyers and sellers are both showing restraint, with price holding a narrow band between $80,500 and $83,500 while the Fear and Greed index sits at 63, a reading that leans greedy but not euphoric. The 30-day gain of 7.7% suggests accumulation has been gradual rather than impulsive, which historically leaves room for consolidation rather than immediate breakout. Control currently sits with neither side decisively, and the flat composite reflects that standoff. A daily close above $83,500 on rising volume would hand momentum to buyers and open the path toward $85,000, while losing $80,500 would shift the burden to sellers and put $79,000 in play. The most likely flip trigger is a macro headline or a large ETF flow day that breaks the range with conviction, since the current drift lacks the energy to move the market on its own.

SCENARIOS

- Consolidation Above $80,500 (49%): triggers: Bitcoin holds the $80,500 support level through five consecutive daily closes while the Fear and Greed reading stays above 50, keeping the range between $80,500 and $83,500 intact. Invalidation: a daily close below $80,500 within five trading days, or a close above $83,500 that breaks the range to the upside before the window ends.
- Upside Break Toward $85,000 (20%): triggers: a daily close above $83,500 on volume above the 20-day average, confirmed by a Fear and Greed move above 70, would signal buyers have taken control of the range. Invalidation: failure to hold above $83,500 for two consecutive closes after the breakout, or a drop back below $80,500 within five trading days.
- Downside Re-test of $79,000 (31%): triggers: a daily close below $80,500, ideally on above-average volume, would put the $79,000 target in play as sellers press the advantage. Invalidation: a recovery back above $80,500 within five trading days, or a close above $83,500 that flips the range in the other direction before the downside plays out.

KEY MARKET MOVERS

- Hot inflation prints: Wednesday's CPI at 3.7% versus a 3.6% forecast and Thursday's PPI at 6.3% versus 5.5% revived bets on another Fed rate hike, hitting risk assets broadly while gold rose.

TOP STORIES

1. Bitcoin breaks $80,000 as inflation data triggers $948 million in liquidations
URL: https://decrypt.co/381044/bitcoin-whipsaws-crypto-liquidations-near-1-billion
Published: 2026-10-15 10:20 AM CT
Summary: Bitcoin fell below $80,000 on Thursday for the first time in over a month, and liquidations hit $948.22 million across 177,440 traders in 24 hours, with longs accounting for $858.96 million or 90.6%, per CoinGlass. The trigger was Wednesday's CPI showing 3.7% year-over-year inflation against a 3.6% forecast, plus Thursday's PPI at 6.3% versus 5.5%, revelling bets on another Fed rate hike. Nexo analyst Iliya Kalchev read the selloff as a broad exit from risk, noting stocks and copper fell while gold rose, and flagged that Bitcoin now trades roughly 2% below the average cost of U.S. spot ETF holders near $82,300, putting those buyers underwater. On the daily chart, Bitcoin broke below $81,603, the strongest upper support from its August-to-October rally, and the Relative Strength Index fell to about 44, though the golden cross keeps the longer-term uptrend intact. Kalchev said a sustained recovery needs ETF flows to turn positive after $681 million of outflows last week, long-term holder selling to ease, and a Fed path that stops at one 25 basis point hike, with the next rate decision due October 28.

2. Quantum fixes protect Bitcoin, but legit owners risk lockout
URL: https://cryptoslate.com/quantum-fixes-protect-bitcoin-but-legit-owners-risk-lockout
Published: 2026-10-15 05:40 PM CT
Summary: Nic Carter described a worst-case quantum scenario in which a hostile actor recovers keys to dormant bitcoin and broadcasts spends across 10 blocks, arguing early coins moving together could shake confidence in the network. Glassnode's May analysis identified 6.04 million BTC, or 30.2% of then-issued supply, with public keys already exposed, mostly through early pay-to-public-key outputs. A modeled sweep of 50,000 outputs holding 50 BTC each, totaling 2.5 million BTC, would fit within a 10-block weight budget of 40 million weight units, though actual inclusion still depends on fees and miner decisions. Jameson Lopp estimated about 2.6 million exposed BTC might be unable to migrate, using inactivity and known-entity labels as proxies. Draft proposals such as BIP-360, BIP-361, and the Hourglass V2 throttle offer different protections, but each risks locking out legitimate holders who cannot migrate or meet rescue conditions.

3. Ledger unveils $849 tamper-detecting wallet as wallet-drain investigation widens
URL: https://cryptoslate.com/ledger-wants-customers-to-trust-its-new-849-device-as-criminals-compromise-existing-wallets
Published: 2026-10-15 07:00 PM CT
Summary: Ledger introduced Ledger Atom, an $849 mobile device with an active protective shield that detects attempts to physically open or modify its secure hardware, with deliveries targeted for 2027 and refundable $100 deposits now open. The launch coincides with the company's investigation into an organized operation in which criminals modified genuine Ledger wallets, captured customers' recovery phrases, and drained their bitcoin through Southeast Asian reseller channels. Ledger said its chips and operating software remained secure, and it has asked resellers across Southeast Asia and Hong Kong to suspend sales while new rules bar reselling returned devices or displaying stock on shelves. Chainalysis found one of the largest victims was an alleged scam operator who lost more than 60 bitcoin, worth roughly $4.8 million, accumulated through a fraudulent online employment scheme and emptied from three Ledger addresses on Oct. 9. Atom pairs an Android environment for everyday apps with a separate Ledger operating system controlling private keys, though it lacks cellular calling and SMS, limiting its ability to replace a smartphone.

OOOOooooPPPssss!

But I have this one.  Cheesy

Looks just like you, and a much better picture than a HAMM operation.

Bitcoin free me from 9-5
Congratulations, buddy. I wish that day would come for me soon. how much do you make if i may ask??

If a guy goes to fuck you status, then maybe a good question would ask the extent to which his supposed drawing from bitcoin replaces his earlier income (or supplements it).  Furthermore is his withdrawal method sustainable in terms of how much he might be drawing from bitcoin.

Since we are in a bitcoin thread, and Floczy specifically gave credit to bitcoin, then supposedly bitcoin is providing the income substitution to the extent it is 100% or to the extent that the way of using the bitcoin is sustainable might be relevant questions... from the point of view of this here cat.

I don't find "how much do you make" to be a very relevant question, and it is also a wee bit of a rude question.

No man  Cheesy
There is nothing to congratulate me about
This is a 9-5 job, I mean Bitcoin should make one financially stable enough to leave this fuc**n job that's, what I meant

I had misread you too... and your clarification makes more sense - especially since it can take a while to get to a point of enough bitcoin to feel confident to pull the fuck you lever.  Tjere are a decently large number of guys who pull the fuck you lever too soon.. so there is a need to make sure that you have enough, even though so far in bitcoin's history, once a guy gets to a reasonably good fuck you status, bitcoin can be quite forgiving as long as you are correctly valuating. ..

This doesn't mean you're not writing your recent WO posts yourself - which is my opinion. I mean, that your output is currently human.
Thank you for the observation.

There have been some backroom discussions to rename this here thread, bot observer.

Russians can still transact in crypto abroad using foreign bank accounts and transfer crypto purchased domestically overseas through regulated intermediaries.
LOL, if they don't mind flying out a window!

For several years (let's say between about late 2016 and early 2019 - I know maybe not quite several years, but perhaps a couple of years), I had a russian guy coming to me to sell me some bitcoin, and surely our relationship started out with seeming scepticism, and sometimes he would bring his girlfriend with and other times not... but yeah, it was always that there was a bit of hesitancy.  I told him that I would not give him any cash unless I got at least one confirmation, and he must have always provided plenty of fees.. since he seemed to not hang arouhnd for very long. .and I would frequently have a confirmation by the next block.

I had another guy (I think hispanic around the same time period) who told me that he bought a miner and he just wanted cash for his bitcoin, and so he would frequently come and he was not very skeptical at all.  He seemed like overly trusting.. yet he would sometimes seem to be skimpy on the transaction fees.  One time he had to wait like three hours before I paid him, and another time, he had to come back the next day, since I told him I was not going to give him any money unless I got at least one confirmation.

The good ole days.  Not even that long ago.

These days, I hear so many scary stories.  So these days?  would anyone dare to do "in person" transactions, these days with so much scariness going on?

Surely, the powers that be want us to be scared of each other.
