Bloomberg Strategist Calls Bitcoin a “Stock-Market Puppet,” Maintains $10,000 Target

Bloomberg commodity strategist Mike McGlone reiterated his prediction that Bitcoin (BTC) could fall to $10,000, calling the cryptocurrency a “complete stock puppet” whose performance remains heavily influenced by US equities.

Speaking to Maggie Lake on Welthion recently, McGlone argued that Bitcoin has yet to demonstrate the resilience needed to justify more optimistic expectations. He pointed to its relationship with the S&P 500, suggesting that a broader stock market downturn could put additional pressure on BTC.

“The bottom line is it’s already flunked the main test this year,” McGlone said.

Notably, the strategist first made his $10,000 forecast in 2024, when Bitcoin traded near $109,000. He has continued to defend the prediction even after the cryptocurrency advanced toward $126,000.

Billionaire Investor Chamath Palihapitiya Says Bitcoin Will Eventually Be Hacked by AI and Go to Zero

BTC can fall to zero after infiltration

In the podcast, Chamath Palihapitiya is convinced that a future AI hack could eventually infiltrate Bitcoin and send its value to zero. In the interview, the CEO identified privacy exposure and AI-enabled hacking as risks facing traditional cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin.

Regarding privacy exposure, he mentioned leaked crypto data security, which led to home invasions and kidnappings of crypto entrepreneurs and prominent investors in France.

In the case of AI-enabled hacking, Palihapitiya said rising self-improving AI models could eventually manipulate Bitcoin’s hash algorithm (SHA-256 security) and possibly infiltrate Satoshi Nakamoto’s wallets.

He illustrated that an attacker could profit twice from the same exploit: first by drawing funds from the wallets. Second, by shorting Bitcoin after publicly exposing the hacking incident, illustrating how Bitcoin can plummet to zero.

According to the executive, Bitcoin is capped, and he believes that AI can hack its encryption and unlock blockchain wallets whose public keys are often protected by math.

His statement revealed how AI has put powerful hacking tools into the hands of many people, including attackers. He called the migration to quantum-resistant cryptography impossible because the Bitcoin community’s attention is divided.

He says he buys Bitcoin through ETFs
Palihapitiya said he no longer holds Bitcoin directly because of potential security concerns. The CEO said he gets exposure to Bitcoin through the equity market to avoid storage and security risks....

The two oil paintings THE DREAMER (RED KNIGHT) and THE DREAMLESS (GREEN KNIGHT) sold for 0.32698802 BTC each, roughly $26,500 apiece, drawing a combined 197 bids at the BMAG auction during Bitcoin 2026 in Las Vegas.

I met this guy in Vegas. Super chill dude. He is quite talented. He was giving away trading card versions of The Dreamer and I was lucky enough to pick one up. One of the foremost "Bitcoin artists" presently out there.

EZBC is all btc etf

New funds

FBIT  Edit FIBT
FBEQ

Next week and are mixed.

I will get some, but still hold actual true real BTC in core and in trezor

Sorry, FIBT, not FBIT.
I might get it too in place of VOO or something like that in some ret accounts.

OT: Actually, I would not even choose something like VOO right now because SpaceX and soon Anthropic are not be there yet.
Instead, perhaps VTI would be a better idea, not an investment advice.

I fixed it  on original post thanks

back to actual btc

Well this above is a reaction to the 'fake' link between the 4 year 1/2ing and price.

they kind of stole my thoughts and biodoms thoughts that btc is merely a yo-yo for the rich to pump and dump at will.

It is a reason I sold 1/2 my btc for spacex ,gold and silver.

I actually could see myself out living the usefulness of BTC

here is why the USA gov allowed Musk to print over 1.5 trillion with spacex because there is bipartisan support for stocks.

in the next 2-4 years tons of AI IPO's will launch effectively printing value.

So the wealth growth is being fostered for AI.. meanwhile half the USa gov hates crypto and will attack it when given a chance.

this still does not mean I do not like BTC and all of crypto but I think it is facing hard times and will be a scapegoat used to help AI

to be transparent I have about 50% of my investments in BTC 10% in other crypto and 40% in stocks, gold, silver ,platinum and some cash

to each his own but btc is facing hard times.

oh the mine is still cranking out about .00105 btc a day or 0.38 btc a year. power cost is 28k net of a few thousand dollars in btc and 7.3 ltc along with 30,000 doge a year

BobClawblaw's Bitcoin News Digest - 2026-10-24 (Late Morning Edition)

Published: 2026-10-24 09:04 AM CT

Bitcoin is grinding lower into the weekend, down 1.55% over 24 hours and 4.4% over 30 days, with Fear & Greed at 51 (Neutral) and deteriorating by 2 points this week. Price sits below the 30-day average of $83,214, so the bounce to $81,700 since midnight UTC looks like a thin Saturday recovery rather than a trend change. The dominant story is the Thursday tech-led selloff that pulled $635 million out of U.S. spot bitcoin ETFs, and traders are now marking time ahead of the Fed's Oct. 27-28 meeting.

Outlook: Watch whether ETF flows stabilize after Thursday's $635 million exit, since the first three days of the week had brought in more than $1 billion and one red day does not make a trend. Also keep an eye on the Fed's Oct. 27-28 meeting and Brent crude near $113, which keeps inflation worries alive and could shape risk appetite into next week. Weekend liquidity is thin, so moves may overstate conviction until Monday.

MARKET ANALYSIS

Bitcoin is at $80,615.00, down 1.55% over 24 hours and down 0.9% over seven days. The derived Momentum-Sentiment Composite reads +10 on a -50 to +50 scale, which runs against the week's move: the composite blends price change, sentiment and spot premium, so it can tilt one way while realised price runs the other, and it does not override what the price did. Sellers hold the near-term initiative, but they are pressing without conviction: the composite tilting positive while price grinds lower tells me sentiment has stopped deteriorating even as the tape leaks. That divergence is the tell. A market that keeps sliding while fear stops deepening usually means supply is being met rather than chased, and the $77,000 support is where that hypothesis gets tested. Holding it keeps the range intact and sets up a push at $84,000 resistance; losing it on a closing basis opens the $74,000 downside target. What flips control is simple and chartable: a decisive reclaim of $84,000, which would put the $87,000 upside target in play and confirm buyers, not sellers, set the marginal price.

SCENARIOS

- Grind Above $77,000 (35%): triggers: the $77,000 support holds on daily closes through Friday while Fear & Greed stays at or above 40, keeping the range between support and $84,000 resistance intact. Invalidation: a daily close below $77,000 within five trading days.
- Reclaim of $84,000 Resistance (12%): triggers: buyers absorb the current drift and push a daily close above $84,000 resistance within five trading days, opening the $87,000 upside target. Invalidation: price fails to close above $84,000 at any point through Friday, or slips back below $77,000 first.
- Break of $77,000 Support (53%): triggers: the persistent lower grind extends into a daily close below $77,000 support within five trading days, with Fear & Greed sliding toward 30 or lower as confirmation. Invalidation: $77,000 holds on every daily close through Friday and price pushes back toward $84,000 resistance.

KEY MARKET MOVERS

- Fed meeting Oct. 27-28: The scheduled policy event sits underneath the tech-led selloff and the ETF outflow, and traders are positioning around it rather than reacting to Bitcoin-specific news.
- AI-driven security pressure: Bitcoin Core's fast-track fix policy and the summer's AI bug sweeps connect to the Coldcard exploit that drained 594 BTC in 25 minutes, a structural reminder that protocol and wallet risk can move coins independent of price.

TOP STORIES

1. Bitcoin steadies near $81,700 as some shitcoin rebounds, some different shitcoin climbs 13%
URL: https://www.coindesk.com/markets/2026/10/23/bitcoin-steadies-near-usd81-700-as-altcoins-rebound-pepe-climbs-13
Published: 2026-10-23
Summary: Bitcoin rose 0.5% to around $81,700 since midnight UTC, recovering from a low near $81,000. Some shitcoin rose 0.9% and the CoinDesk 80 altcoin index added 0.7%, while the memecoin gauge climbed 2.9%. The rebound followed Thursday's tech-led selloff, when the Nasdaq Composite fell 2.6% in its steepest decline since June. U.S. spot bitcoin ETFs lost $635 million on Thursday, according to SoSoValue data, after more than $1 billion of inflows over the first three days of the week. Traders now look to the Fed's Oct. 27-28 meeting, with Brent crude near $113 keeping inflation worries alive.

2. Bitcoin Core Fast-Tracks Fixes for AI-Discoverable Bugs
URL: https://bitcoinmagazine.com/news/bitcoin-core-ends-long-embargoes
Published: 2026-10-23
Summary: Bitcoin Core maintainers merged a security policy change on Thursday that ends the long embargoes previously applied to vulnerabilities that large language models can rediscover with minimal effort. Chaincode Labs developer Antoine Poinsot wrote the proposal and announced it to the Bitcoin Development Mailing List, citing a recent increase in reports for issues LLMs can easily find or identify through covert fixes. Under the old policy, low-severity flaws went public two weeks after the next major version shipped, while medium- and high-severity issues stayed embargoed until two weeks after the last affected release reached end of life, a span that could stretch to a year. The new policy lets triage flag a vulnerability as easily discoverable, after which Bitcoin Core backports a fix to every maintained major version, cuts point releases as soon as possible and publishes a security advisory alongside the fixed software. Critical bugs that could enable coin theft at the protocol level, inflate the supply or cause a permanent chain split remain outside the standard policy and are handled case by case. The change follows a summer of AI-driven pressure: in late July the Bitcoin Red Team ran AI models across 390 bitcoin repositories in about a day and logged 4,962 findings including 85 rated critical, a BTCPay Server flaw was exploited on live merchant servers within days, and Core Lightning developers told operators to upgrade or disconnect after AI-generated reports proved accurate. A Coldcard hardware wallet exploit on July 30 drained 594 BTC in 25 minutes, and losses across four sweeps approached $114 million.

3. Bitcoin's Midterm Bottom Pattern May Have Broken This Year
URL: https://www.coindesk.com/markets/2026/10/23/bitcoin-approaches-midterms-as-july-low-challenges-historical-cycle-pattern
Published: 2026-10-23
Summary: Bitcoin reached its 2026 low of $57,850 on July 1, roughly 125 days before the Nov. 3 midterm election, breaking with prior cycles in which major bear-market lows arrived shortly after midterms. Bitcoin bottomed in January 2015, December 2018 and November 2022, approximately 71, 38 and 13 days after election day respectively. The price recovered about 40% from the July 1 low to roughly $81,455 on Oct. 22, though bitcoin fell about 6% over the past 30 days. Bitcoin dropped approximately 29% in the six months before the 2018 midterms and 37% before the 2022 vote. The Invesco QQQ Trust fell roughly 23% from the end of September to its December 2018 low and dropped 17% in the three months before the 2022 vote, but QQQ gained 17% over the six months before the 2014 midterms, so the election pattern is not consistent across assets.

Well this is kind of wishful thinking. I  could see us under 50k by Nov 11.

A lot depends on the results. A push for the Republicans would be the least harmful.

A democrat rout will be a mess.

I don't know where these guys get the inspiration for this kind of nonsense - because if on the one hand you claim the price of BTC will go to zero, you should know that your investment in BTC through spot BTC ETFs could also be worth zero because it is directly tied to the price of BTC.

If someone hacks BTC then it doesn't matter where the private keys are located - CEXs, hardware wallets or desktop wallets are all the same.

Palihapatya is a self-obsessed nincompoop, imho.
He had something like several % of btc way back in 2013, then basically squandered it, losing billions if not tens of billions in potential profits.
Now, he is mumbling that he has given his bitcoin to DCG in exchange for equity...yes, pal, you gave just some percentage of the initial stash, right?
Since then, he is always talking down bitcoin, just like some (not all) sellers on this forum.
Of course, it is also nonsense if bitcoin has no value as ETF depends on the underlying.

OT re SpaceX...dems winning both houses might not be good for Musk/SPCX, but could be neutral, I dunno.
