Hi everyone,

I would like to make a review about the Custom ROM from Eliovp for a Panda Miner (http://pandaminer.com).

I'm not going to say that its  a must to buy a panda miner but I can really recommand it for that money and easy setup Grin
For myself I'm running already a little panda miner farm (5 pandas, 2 already running, 3 on progress) and planning to expand up to 10-15 miners!

So if you have already a few pandas or you are planing to purchase some go ahead and read this review  Cheesy

IMPORTANT: The rom is not free and it only makes sense to buy if you are the owner of a few panda miners! For the price you have to contact Eliovp. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=pm;sa=send;u=236770

Setup:
Hardware: Panda Miner with 8 GPU's http://pandaminer.com/default/product_detail?id=2
OS: Windows 10 x64 LTSB 2016 English.

This review is based on two custom roms from Eliovp. But lets start with the out of the Box rom:

Build out of the Box (shipped Panda Miner with no modification on the rom):

Stock Rom hashrate and power:
With the stock rom I get the following hash rate for Monero

The power consume during the mining with the stock rom:

Custom rom from Eliovp moderate version:

This Custom rom from Eliovp is a great deal between power consume and hashrate  Smiley
This doesn't touch the core and memory clock.

With the noderate version rom I get the following hash rate for Monero

The power consume during the mining with the moderate version rom:

Custom rom from Eliovp full speed version:

This Custom rom from Eliovp brings still a better hashrate than the moderate one but for that it consumes a few extra watts.
This has a higher core clock and memory clock. Still no problem with temperate at all!

With the full speed rom I get the following hash rate for Monero

The power consume during the mining with the full speed rom:

Overall:
Really great ROM from Eliovp once again which is worth every penny  Cheesy!
All Custom roms from Eliovp are stable as a rock on my Panda Miner Windows machine (it will be the same on default image where the panda miner comes with!).

Quick overview:

  • Panda out of the BOX: Monero ~5880h/s ~945W
  • Panda moderate rom: Monero ~6550h/s ~947W +12%
  • Panda full speed rom: Monero ~6850h/s ~992W +17%

Once again, this rom is not free and I think its clear why Wink So if you are intrested in getting the custom rom from Eliovp just send him a PM:https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=pm;sa=send;u=236770

thanks for reading and any feedback is appreciated:)

best regards
slim

UPDATE 1:

ETH Hashrate with full speed rom:
~246mh/s consumes 1190w

So the moderate one is same watts and around 600 700 h more.

Basically it is like a free gpu.

Or a 9 gpu miner vs a 8 gpu miner.

I would like to see a low power xmr rom.

Say 5800h. And 880 watts or 5800h and 850 watts.

I have a good fan mod. And if I had a lower powered rom. Say same hash but 800-850 watts I could make the miner quieter.

Yeah, that shouldn't be a problem.

Perhaps not a bad idea to try..

And comparision for ETH and ZEC?
Interesting is that my Panda had default clocks 1220/2000MHz, not 1145/2050 as yours.

There's so much quality difference in those GPU's, some can handle higher clocks, some just can't.

So i'm pretty sure that they came to the conclusion that those that you have werer not able to maintain a memory clock higher than 2000, so easy solution was to just raise core ..

Which is ok, but will consume a shitload more..

Greetings!

this psu is on order it would do 4 or 5 panda miners as a pretty much perfect fan control

http://www.ebay.com/itm/131536990208?

I am using
this psu will run 2 pandminers  and control  from 4 volts to 15 volts.

you realize  you are doing the fans. not the pandaminer.

fans at full speed use 70-80 watts.

if you run xmr  and set fans to 9 volts you use 41-50 watts.

these are designed to run 24/7/365

I did extensive testing with more then one method.  these psu are far better then most methods.

By voting in the 9 volt area I drop 30 watts on each pandaminer set of fans .  So if the psu was 90 percent and this is 75 percent.
I still gain a savings of 20-25 watts. plus reduced sound

Difference on Windows and Linux is still rather large to be honest, a shame it is..

Result on Linux with the faster rom:
