http://i49.tinypic.com/2h55emg.png Pixelco.in Pixel Market

Pixelco.in is collaborative distributed artwork in a bitcoin marketplace.

What does that mean? Basically, you can buy any number of pixels you want and mark them with an image you upload. That might be enough for a lot of people, and we could have stopped there.

But here's where it gets interesting: Pixelco.in is like a chain game too, because someone can buy your pixels from you, and if they do, you earn a profit! Except unlike a chain game, your purchase never expires or resets, so there is no risk of loss. We can do this because there is no worry about runaway prices: if pixels get too expensive to buy a large block, you can just buy a smaller block!

Plus, after months of development, it is fast, fun, and easy to use. Check out our faq or about page to read more!

You only start earning profit once the whole grid is filled and people buy your pixels..

But pretty clever idea Smiley

Thanks! And you're right, it may take some time before you would earn a profit, but in the meantime, you can link your image to whatever you want, and that's basically free advertising. So it's an especially great deal if you have something you want to link to.

To get things started out, I'm happy to announce a huge price cut: now just 0.01 btc buys 1,000 pixels!
This should help alleviate concerns about the space not filling up fast enough: at these prices, it won't take many purchases to fill up all the space.

Plus, after months of development, it is fast, fun, and easy to use.

I think it would be better if I could see information about what an image is linked to without clicking.  Maybe just have it show the target URL in the lower left (like every other HTML link does), or have a floating popup box that follows the mouse and shows the target.  Currently it's too slow, having to click then wait for the modal dialog to pop up.

Thanks for the input, I will consider doing something like that. There are some things I prefer about the modal, but I will admit that that part of the user experience isn't as optimized as it could be yet.

I'm happy to announce a requested feature: it is now possible to edit the thumbnail image for your link! This will not affect the image that is displayed on the homepage, but will allow you to set a custom thumbnail for the link display, as well as the transaction log. This is due to asymmetric images becoming oddly-cropped when put into a square format.

I would make the url clickable.

Yup I'd suggest just letting people click the pictures to take them to the website being advertised rather than asking for a confirm.

I agree, and am implementing something along these lines that I believe will make for a better user experience. Stay tuned for this update once it is ready and tested!

Clever.

Thanks for all the positive feedback, everyone! I'm happy that everything has been running quite smoothly so far, but will also keep working on new improvements, refinements, and maintenance.

So you stole the "Million $ bitcoin homepage" idea from that other guy, simply made a better presentation of it, and it's working while his is collecting dust.

Awesome  Grin

Just goes to show that presentation (and a new twist if it's an old idea) is all you really need to make it work.

Actually, I didn't even see that until later: I stole the idea directly from the original million dollar homepage Wink Plus some inspiration from the bitcoin gem.

Apart from selling pixels on the forum are you advertising the page somewhere? (just a curious marketing question)
