Arnhem world's most Bitcoin friendly city located in Netherlands, you can buy everything with bitcoin in it.
Arnhem Bitcoinstad" ('Bitcoin City') as they call it, came into existence when three Bitcoin enthusiasts decided they wanted to be able to spend bitcoins in their own town. They went on a mission to convince local bars and restaurant owners to accept bitcoin payments. At the opening at May 28th 2014, 15 places accepted bitcoins. Since then, more and more shop owners joined them so you can buy a greater diversity of products and pay with Bitcoin in Arnhem.
What we will have next, Bitcoin Country? What other Bitcoin friendly places you would recommend?

We could say that. Netherlands is also bitcoin country. It was one of the first european countries that has welcomed bitcoin, placed ATMs and also regulated bitcoin but in positive way. So it would be great to see other countries that would follow this great example of Netherlands.

At first I thought it's a small town with population under 20,000, so it wasn't a big deal to convince almost every place there to accept Bitcoin. But then I googled it. Wow! Arnhem's population is over 150,000 and it is one of the largest cities of the Netherlands. Good job, guys! That's a great example for all of us to follow.

As mentioned other countries too might follow Netherlands to advance in technology. Bitcoin ATM usage has decreased a lot due to the exchanges which makes the conversion with small fee. I believe that already a country named Liberaland is using bitcoin as its currency which has got just a few number of residents.

This is very enthusiastic news! who is behind all this and how it happened? was it a result of government initiative or was it just a community efforts? I would like to see how it worked so that other cities can follow the suit.

wow this is such a cool news to hear because it has actual bitcoin usage instead of fiat in it, and that is always nice. i am wondering if anyone can give us some statistics on how successful these businesses were and how many people have been using them with bitcoin in the past 2-3 years?

Good news indeed! A country now? That will be a problem. But it is really a goof start. I hope I can go there and spend some. Anyone have tried this? How are the items priced? Are the prices also rely on a certain currency? Want to go there and see if it is better than how it is with dollar prices.

I've been there twice! Defenitely worth a visit. Beautiful city and really nice people. You can get almost anything there with Bitcoin! You gotta have to love the dutch! In terms of countries it looks like the Japan is making great progress and doing some huge steps in direction to declare Bitcoin as legal tender. https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2016/feb/25/japan-to-make-bitcoin-legal-currencyThat would be something!

Proud to be Dutch.

That's great news and it shows that when there is drive for something to be done, sooner or later it becomes reality. Now if only more people go to that city and get hooked with BTC then everything is possible BTC Country is a huge goal and it is definitely a goal which would bring a lot of attention to BTC so why not.

These are very good news. Maybe some already know it but in northern Switzerland there is small town its name is Zug which has begun to accept payments in bitcoin for certain public services from May 2016 as a part of a pilot crypto project. The municipality of Zug accepts the amount of 200 francs worth in equivalent of bitcoin.

I actually heard about Arnhem Bitcoinsrad March last year through a friend who's a Dutch and lived in Arnhem, I wasn't enthused about Bitcoin then but I knew it was a great name for the city (Bitcoin city) and I'm happy now that I belong to the Bitcoin world to have cities turning up the acceptance heat if Bitcoin, hopefully the entire Netherlands and maybe Switzerland will follow suite soon.
