Hi Guys,

Dark days for us altcoin miners are upon us  Undecided

ZEC,ETH,XMR - profitability just dropping across the board... Strange.

U think this will improve or is it a downward spiral for a longer period?

use http://www.coinwarz.com website for getting your answer and i think it is best to ask your question in the altcoin mining board instead.

but the profitablity change is usually because of three things:
1) price: which you can't do anything about unless you are a pumper.
and also you have to be good at speculation to know how the prices may change to sell at the best time to make the best profit.

2) the difficulty:
http://www.coinwarz.com/difficulty-charts/ethereum-difficulty-chart
http://www.coinwarz.com/difficulty-charts/monero-difficulty-chart
http://www.coinwarz.com/difficulty-charts/zcash-difficulty-chart
which seems to be the same for ZEC but rising with a higher rate in ethereum which means it is getting harder for you to make profit from ethereum mining and maybe you should stick to the other two.
and actually i believe that is why ethereum mining took a hit a while back.

3) block reward.
i am not sure about how each of these 3 work but halving can be a good thing for them, since it is known to increase their prices into a bubble.

i am not a miner but from what i have seen in these years, in the end miners always switch between these different coins, go to newer coins with lower difficulty and always try to maximize their profit and bigger coins are mostly left to be mined by big mining farms.

i'm with you if you have not very cheap electricity it's very hard to profit now, there are simply too many gpu out there that are mining, because the profit is still there for expensive electricity, they keep adding gpu untill only the cheapest will profit, the only thing to do is waiting for better time, or perhaps we need another crash in the whole market and cut some miners out, we can balance out the profit if it happen

Depending on your plans to hold or dump right away, you also might adjust the coin you are mining.
Personally i think ZEC will continue to drop, while ETH and XMR have a better chance of going up in price long-term.

Think, when prices goes down, then mining profitability drops, then those with high price of electricity stop mining.  What happens then?   Dificulty decrease and you mine more coins and your mining profitability gets better. Smiley

Depends how you look at it. Maybe they don't stop, they just earn less  Undecided
You'd have to have really high electricity not to make a profit, right? like what, 15c/kw? Anything below 10c/kw you can make serious cash given you have enough rigs...

Anyway, thanks for the open discussion, i would really like to know what others think about this.
I don't have a lot of rigs, but i'm thinking into making a bigger investment into mining, but i really have second guesses all the time and can't make up my mind.

I think depend on the developers of zec,xmr and eth. What's new innovation be made for the coins
that will taking investors to put the money on the coins,
if there are not innovation new projects for the coins will be difficult to profitability the coins
for long time or maybe the coins will be die.
