I wouldn't. Let Bitcoin be what it is: a decentralized cryptocurrency that is anonymous and safe for everyone who seeks privacy. Governments would only want to secure it for themselves and seek for everyone's identity that is using Bitcoin. That's not what we want.

bitcoin should be a voluntary second option outside of U.S legal tender laws.

let fiat burn in hyperinflation but dont make bitcoin be the government taxation tool after that.
let them keep asking for worthless fiat(or hyperledger coin thereafter). while bitcoin stays out of the jurisdiction of U.S legal tender.

that way bitcoin doesnt get limited by bureaucracy or stolen from you simply for parking tickets or other fiat grabbing reasons.

keep it free from governments grasps

When it would be the main currency in the usa, then everyone would accept and like it,
because nobody ask someone if he like the us dollar.

I think in the future would it be possible, but it will be a long way for bitcoin.

Bitcoin might be popular, yes, but the about bitcoin and its characteristics are not still suitable for a currency of a country. Though it will be really great if bitcoin is a currency of one country, bitcoin can be quickly transacted which is really great. Still there are holes in this cryptocurrency, its flaws must be found and make a debate about it after.

I do not see bitcoin being a main currency, because being a main currency means being centralized and control by government.  Bitcoin is fitted being an alternative currency, it is its nature, decentralized and free from any regulatory grasp of the government.

This is something that will be possible someday, in fact there are already some countries that are very advanced in the adoption of Bitcoin, but most of the places that I know with this level of progress are European cities, such as a city of the Netherlands, called Arnhem.

bitcoin was not created for a country only, IMO. bitcoin users, of course, like when bitcoin becomes more famous and many people use it, but when bitcoin become's America's main currency, I think bitcoin will be not same anymore. probably the USA government do some researches to bitcoin like identity, or kind of thing. so I wouldn't like it and agree.

Yes, it is most likely not going to be a main currency but, I was just wondering if you would like it as a main currency.

Bitcoin as a country main currency is a dangerous thing for the country, because the government can't control it, and when the government can't control the currency there will be an inflation and the price of the thing will become fluctuate, I prefer bitcoin only act as sub currency not as a main currency

I think I will agree if the both of the currencies will become the main currency of America. Both are useful in my mind. Bitcoin for controlling the digital transaction and fiat currency to controlling your daily life.  Wink

Yes, I like the idea of bitcoin as an alternative currency which excluded from centralization and controlled object by government.
Bitcoin won't be so attractive if government start to collect higher taxes from bitcoin users as what they did to other financial sources.
For now, let them give legitimacy for bitcoin and regulate exchanges to prevent illegal activities or any adverse effects for citizens.

I agree with you kevin. Let Bitcoin be an alternative to dollar or other currency in other country. An alternative payment option etc but each nation has its own  main currency.Leave bitcoin alone as it is   Wink Let bitcoin evolve on its own.

Why just US? Why not all countries of the world? But if it becomes a currency of a country, are you willing to give up anonymity?  Are you willing to give control over your bitcoin to the government? I don't. Let us keep bitcoin as an alternative currency and keep it away from the grasp of any government.

It can't handle the transaction capacity of a Major U.S. City , much less a Country.  Tongue

If the main currency in America was bitcoin, I would use it. But they will not allow it. The dollar is the main reserve in the US.
The dollar is used as reserves all over the world. They do not want to change this order.

If that happen, bitcoin will be an international currency, because many countries were save USD as reserve currency because they sure that america is strong country that the economy will be always stable.

I disagree with you. Bitcoin doesn't have the basic characteristics to become a mainstream currency, so becoming the currency of USA is not possible and not feasible for bitcoin. USA dollar is backed up by federal reserve whereas bitcoin is not backed up by anyone, just generated from a computer program. So it lacks the basic eligibility criteria.

Let bitcoin be used by the unorganized sector only and not by the governments. Because if money hungry government starts using it, then the general bitcoin users will be doomed soon enough. Either they will be put behind the bars or their bitcoin holdings will be take away by the government. So let it be at the same place as it is now.

Bitcoin is already a world-currency. I don't know why people give much importance to government, if you and me holding Bitcoin and the fact that we both belong to different nations can use it then it is a conclusive proof that Bitcoin is international.
Now coming to USD reserve, forex is one the prominent aspect of country's treasury. It is mandatory to carry foreign trade and investments. So not only USD, countries maintain reserves in almost all currencis of countries which are its trade partner.
