basically what im asking is are all 6 of my GPU's per rig working together to find shares, or are they all completely independant? example: will 2 rigs of 3 gpus each find a "equal" amount of shares as 1 rig of 6?

good question. I would expect that each shader/computing unit is working independently but some attempt is made to synchronise that overpaling work is minimised. that even happens on a pool level but still random option remain

I'm not sure how to Answer this but here goes they are independant but work to gather as one rig by that i mean you can't make one GPU mine on this POOL while another one in the same Rig mines else were but each one has it own engine and memory and works independant without sharing with the other GPU's but the pool only shows 6 cards as one ...but the software miner does show what each card is doing ... i think you can run two on one Pool and two another POOL in the same rig if you load in two instances of the same software  on the same rig but it is hard to do . is that what you want to know ? .

No  2 rigs of 3 cards  will hash better then 1 rig of 6 cards.

All my rigs are 3 or 4 cards.

But  I pay for :

more mobos
more ram
more cpus.

psu cost is even  as I can use lower watt psu's

ok,why im asking is iv basically sold off all my power hungary 290's and 290x's and now have a few "empty rigs"..everything except GPU's. will be replacing them within a week or so. but i am also running 4 rigs of 6 gpus. does it make sense to spread the gpus out a bit and say run only 4gpus on 6 rigs if i already have all other hardware.
