You get a link, you click on it and Amazon will give you the option to redeem it as X months worth of "Prime", or you can decline that offer if you already have Prime (or don't want it... which you obviously don't as you want the $$$ ) and then it'll add the value to your Account Balance as if you had redeemed a giftcard... like this:
