Just a heads up:

I sent this guy 9000XRP, he replied that he would send me the BTC in a minute and then he said his Ripple account was frozen and did not send me any BTC.
Is it even possible to get a Ripple account frozen?

How does the Ripple trust system come into play here?

It doesn't, XRP transactions are just like BTC irreversible. An account cannot be "frozen" unless we are talking about a bug.

On a another note, a 40.000 XRP/BTC means 500XRP/USD. Since they have 100 bln XRP, that put the valuation of Opencoin at 200 million dollars. A tad high maybe ?

buy now you have his "iou" right?   Just go cash it because we all know there are tons of people that like buying the debt of unknown strangers.

Dont have any iou, I just trusted the guy and sent him the XRP first and was expecting a BTC transaction, so in a way it was my own fault for trusting him.

Yeah i would say so.. but supply and demand right? I saw an offer to buy XRP for 30,000/1btc just now.

It doesn't. The transaction described is just like a bitcoin-otc transaction; if you send a non-reversible payment to someone first you're trusting the other party won't just go away.

That's why I think all these BTC/XRP trade offers I see on this forum are moronic (other than those looking to by a starting 300-500 XRP). The prices inside Ripple are way better and the only entity you need to trust is Bitstamp (in order to get actual BTC or USD out). I'd rather trust Bitstamp then some random dude on this forum.

If you're asking about a BTC/XRP exchange look at these posts:

No. Just No. Stop spreading FUD, it's clear from your posts you have no clue how Ripple works nor do you care to learn or contribute constructively.

IMO, Ripple questions are best asked (and answered) on the Ripple forum and/or StackExchange
