Please keep us informed about how many bookings you actually have where guests pay by btc.

Yeah, well, I'm gonna go build my own blockchain. With blackjack and hookers! In fact forget the blockchain.

I actually *am* planning a trip to Disneyland in a couple months with about 8 people. We've already booked another hotel but it's far enough out that we can still cancel. I'll be looking into the details of this and if it's close enough for our purposes and somewhat affordable you can bet I'll be booking with you.

Oh and instead of using Mt Gox's daily low, you might consider using the lower end of a statistical bracket. http://www.bitcoinreference.com/ <- Lists a four-hour moving average with brackets at +/- 1 and 2 standard deviations (i.e. the amount BTC is likely to change in the period of time it takes to complete a transaction and convert it to USD based on the volatility observed over a four-hour window.) Full disclosure: It's my own web site and yeah I'm kinda pimping it on the forums

30% discount to the daily low in order to book a reservation? Why would anyone do this as opposed to selling the coins and paying in cash?

30% discount to the daily low in order to book a reservation? Why would anyone do this as opposed to selling the coins and paying in cash?
Just noticed this. I recognize BTC is a volatile market so I'm ok with merchants low-balling figures for the time, though I recommend using some kind of statistical window as opposed to the low. The 30% is insane. Why would I pay 30% more for my hotel room just to book it in BTC? If I book a room with a king bed for 3 days (which was my plan) that's $250, so I'm supposed to pay an extra $75 because someone had to go to MtGox for a minute? C'mon, I trade I mine I know how much time/effort it takes to convert BTC to USD and vice versa, and that's not worth $75. Sorry.

Or just use the 30 day volume weighted average on bitcoinwatch.com.
This needs to be added to the trade page soon. Hmmm, Disney's Ultimate Homeschool Fieldtrip is in September.

"The powers of financial capitalism had another far-reaching aim, nothing less than to create a world system of financial control in private hands able to dominate the political system of each country and the economy of the world as a whole. This system was to be controlled in a feudalist fashion by the central banks of the world acting in concert, by secret agreements arrived at in frequent meetings and conferences. The apex of the systems was to be the Bank for International Settlements in Basel, Switzerland, a private bank owned and controlled by the world's central banks which were themselves private corporations. Each central bank...sought to dominate its government by its ability to control Treasury loans, to manipulate foreign exchanges, to influence the level of economic activity in the country, and to influence cooperative politicians by subsequent economic rewards in the business world."

This is very good for the future of BTC. Howard Johnson is a recognizable brand (although you are merely franchising that particular location). Thank you for taking an interest, and a risk in Bitcoins.

I may be getting quoted in an upcoming Gizmodo.com article for accepting BitCoins at my hotel. If someone sees it, please put up the link, and I'll try and keep my eyes open too.

I just did my first transaction, and I was surprised by how quickly it went. Mt. Gox --> Dwolla --> My Bank Account. About 1 day. What percentage do you feel would be fair if at all?

If I were you, I would just use the current spot price. 50% of the time you will win, and 50% of the time you will lose. If you lose more than you win, I bet it won't exceed what you lose every time you take a credit card.
