Pressure cooker with a pistol grip

OMG!!!  ASSAULT PRESSURE COOKER!! Cheesy Grin Cheesy

And that appears to be a high-capacity clip* magazine!!  Pressure cookers must from this point forward be limited to 1L.

*I hate that word, "clip".  Dear MSM...  Learn the difference between a "clip" and a "magazine".  Regards, Me.

That would require a level of investigation that might unintentionally convince them that firearms don't drag innocent people out to go on killing sprees. So, not gonna happen.

That's not to say there aren't organizations that would like to ban private handgun ownership entirely...
http://www.handgunfree.org/
http://www.csgv.org/
http://www.ceasefire.org/

Poor, misguided fools.  Undecided

i have to give credit to the dillhole that you are arguing against though. I think technically he is right. Do any of these organizations propose that the government should disarm its self as well? if not than not a single one of them is technically "anti-gun". I think he was right and i think i did miss-speak.

If one can not confer upon another a right which he does not himself first possess, by what means does the state derive the right to engage in behaviors from which the public is prohibited?

I wonder how well such an organization would fare, on the hill?

I was just about to applaud your post suggesting a ban on pressure cookers, and was going to suggest a legal vs illegal pressure range (which is really the only important factor when determining whether or not a device is an actual pressure vessel, and of course the only way to ensure safety when cooking with such items) when I realised the thread had degenerated to a discussion about handguns. Really? You pro gun crazies can't keep it in your pants long enough to allow a simple discussion on safety aspects of pressure vessel design? What next, you going to start ranting about guns in the Alpaca socks thread?

You couldn't let me even have a little fun? You suck. Anyway, pressure vessel design *is* a very interesting area of study. It's one of the reasons I never became a chemical engineer when I graduated.

If they ban pressure cookers, criminals will just use water heaters. Anyone see MythBusters launch one of those suckers hundreds of meters into the air?

The most reliable and easily timed pressure (bomb? rocket?) I've ever seen. 41-43 minutes, every time.

Well, if I had been allowed to continue (ahem) I would have discussed in detail the design of pressure vessels in general and politely suggested the OP widen his area of concern from the very small and less lethal area of pressure cookers. I don't know about you, but I do get uncomfortable filling an LPG tank. Criminals are not necessary to make pressure vessels dangerous, poor design practice and/or manufacturing is.

Another interesting area of discussion is tig welding - when should it be used and why? What grade stainless steel should be used in a pressure cooker? How has regulator design changed to make pressure vessels safer and should safety regulators be mandated?

If this must somehow degenerate into a discussion about weapons, might I suggest compressed air guns as a topic? Then at least there would be some small point of relevance in what has become (IMO) a very OT thread.

Pretty much everything can be made into killing device with little technical skill and creativity. The only way to stop bombings and other acts of terrorism is for government to stop intervene into other countries and in peoples life in their own country.

Design flaws and economy on material quality and thickness is another danger. I was never afraid to handle old 50 liter gas balons like this one
.
They were made into 1960-ties but they are still safe to use 50 years after manufacture. The new smaller EU standard ones are thin and questionable safety.

lol at title.

I don't think they should be banned, however background checks of owners of pressure cookers should be mandatory.

Wrong. Background checks of pressure cooker designers should be mandatory. The post above yours shows shows what can happen as a result of an improperly designed /manufactured / maintained / installed pressure vessel.

If we're really going to solve this thing, we have to get to the core issue; our culture of destruction.

Take birthday parties. There is a weapon of mass destruction there which will lead only to more bombings - more tragedy - and American parents do nothing to stop it. Some parents even BUY weapons for their children. America's children are led to believe there's nothing wrong with bombs, and that's why they grow up to murder and terrorize. We have to end it now!

This is why I'm introducing House Resolution 2093, "Eradicate Bombs for Our Little Angels" or EBOLA, which will ban the sale of party balloons and finally put an end to predominantly-Brown sales of potentially lethal gases, such as helium. Furthermore, EBOLA will finally require permits for American "birthday parties," where a variety of federal safety agencies will inspect persons and their belongings for potentially dangerous items - INCLUDING ALL PRESSURE VESSELS - confiscate them, box them up, and throw them out airplanes onto Afghan civilians. Call it uhh... "Freedom Care Packages."

Of course if pressure cookers are outlawed, then only outlaws will have the ability to make fluffy rice.
