Hi, I am looking for miners to film for a story on Bitcoin. I'd love to show some elaborate rigs -- do any exist in California with our high electricity costs? I'm also interested in speaking with people who are investing their retirement savings in Bitcoin. We are filming in the Bay Area today and tomorrow - and could possibly do something in the LA area Friday morning or next week if that works. My email is regan.morris@bbc.co.uk - Thanks!

Sorry, if this has been posted, I did a search for Regan Morris before posting.

Imagine when 60 million people in the U.K. realizes that they could make a bit of money on the side, they just need to mine.
That will royally f**k up our difficulty...

Except most of them won't have or think they have the technical ability, or the hardware, or the funds to acquire hardware.
It's not like the average home desktop can make more than negligible gains except for maybe gaming rigs but those aren't necessarily average.

I'd be shocked if anyone had an awesome rig in CA. > $0.31/kWh for high power consumption, makes it really unfavorable. Sounds like she found someone though, should be interesting.

Myself in the UK and prices for elec are around 0.25GBP so around $0.40 per kWh depending on who you are with. I already have long term plans and future plans for Bitcoin. I will be looking to get a small power station running on echo friendly power such as solar power, wind power, water power and heat. Too many things going on to list everything but when the time is right and I know what direction I am going with all the ideas I currently have I will be posting on here for a global announcement Smiley

If you take a look at this thread you will find that about 80% of the miners are mining with only a couple of cards, and not with purpose-built rigs.

And 20% of the miners are producing 80% of the hashes.

[I'm not saying that's optimal, but there are plenty of significant mining operators each with a lot of hardware.]

The BBC will either twist the story or lie through their teeth - I wouldn't talk to them even if I had paid my license fee.....

What was it: "Building 7 has collapsed", erm........no it hasn't. 20 minutes later........talk about reading from a script.
