Interested to mine some bitcoins for fun. But I am not sure what is the hash rate that I can get with GTX 950.

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

Mining bitcoin with GPUs is not remotely fun these days and hasn't been for many years. You'll probably get about 500 megahash, though there is no point even finding out exactly... which will earn you nothing but cost you heaps in electricity and heat strain/wear on your GPU. Bear in mind an average ASIC miner on sale today starts at 6 terrahash; that's 12 thousand times faster than your GPU for about double the power consumption of your GPU.

You will only succeed in possibly blowing up your gpu/computer and compiling a fat electric bill. However, if you are cold, it might heat up your room quite a bit Smiley There are altcoins you can mine with GPU but it is not remotely worth it. Even with free electricity and a free GPU, it is still not worth it to mine bitcoin.

I guess its only profitable to mine altcoins with relatively low difficulty after reading all your comments

GPU mining of bitcoin has been totally not-profitable for years, ASIC took over a long time ago.

Ditto for Scrypt-based altcoins as of 3-4 years ago.

Ditto for X11/X13/X15/etc based coins as of about a year ago.

GPU mining of many other altcoins however is quite profitable, even with an older lower-end card like the GTX 950 (my trio have probably paid for themselves by now via ETH mining) if you have a low enough electrical cost.

I'm no longer legendary just in my own mind!

Don't think you can mine with a 950, only select Nvidias can be used by mining software. If you're doing it for fun might as well try new altcoins to convert to btc
