Hey guys,

I am pretty damn frustrated over here. I have some coins on Strongcoin, and it won't let me withdraw them. It asks me for my password for the wallet, and when I put in the password it tells me Invalid. I have the private key encrypted from the paper backup, but is there anyway I can get to my coins? I really cant afford to lose this money. I've contacted Strongcoin customer service and asked them to help, but not expecting much.

In my research I have found forum posts saying I can decrypt my key using command line, but the instructions on how to go about this are extremely unclear and confusing. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks yall!

It's weird how I never heard of them and they claim to have +100,000 users and they even charge some fees. I checked their FAQ and It looks like there is no seed or anything to recover your coins , It says that If you lose your password then there is nothing you could do about it and you are claiming that your password is 100% .

The paper wallet has you private key encrypted with AES which is compatible with openssl. Just supply your password to decrypt the keys with any AES openssl compatible implementation.

I don't know much about the technical details but have you tried to download OpenSSL and decrypt ? there are a few tutorials out there (they have nothing to do with bitcoin though, but the rules applies in all cases)

That's what my next step is. I was hoping to find someone on here who has had to do this before. I'm trying to find a guide. I am 99.99% sure I have the right password so its appearing this is the only way to do it (I guess the site has issues).

EDIT: I really am positive I have the right password. This sucks.

Using google:
https://sourceforge.net/directory/os:windows/?q=aes%20256%20decrypt

I guess any of these tools, or the dozens of online decryptors should do  the trick (altough, i wouldn't trust websites, nor closed source tools to do this job)

How sure? Have you previously used that password to decode an encrypted private key from them?
And when was the last time you used it?

I personally don't use them, I've taken a look previously but ultimately decided against them as I've seen some users having issues with their passwords.

Have you had no luck with support?
