Sorry if this is a dumb question, but when I set a wallet name and description in Armory, does that get published anywhere or shown to those who I send bitcoins to, or receive from? I assume not, but I just wanted to make sure. Are those stored only in files on the computer, or would they be shown when restoring from a paper wallet?

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

No, any names, descriptions, labels, etc. are all stored locally in your wallet files. Only people who have access to those files can see those. None of that information is necessary for Bitcoin to operate, so it is never published anywhere for anyone to see.

In addition to achow101's reply: If you ever need to restore from a paper backup, then both the name of your wallet and all comments in it are lost.  But the bitcoins survive, that is the main point  Grin
