Seems like they just need to increase the maximum number of mysql connections.

Wonder if they are getting DoS'd. I believe a pool was DoS'd by someone making spurious miner auth attempts, tying up mysql.

It's probably someone trying to make a quick number of FC whilst they are still relatively easy by ddos'ing the other mining pools.

It should be good to go now.

Last night I blocked suspected botnet dodg, and I'm not sure, but my suspicion is (probably not intentional) that his bots hopped to another pool and then came back and kept getting unauthed messages which requires a mysql connection to check the auth (blocked). I installed memcached into the stratum server (probably should have on day 0) so that repeat requests don't require database checks and increased the connections supported by mysql so it should be okay now.

I'm thinking about adding a second work server. Where do you think it should go?

Options:
Chicago, NYC, FL USA
Europe
Asia

is there a way for you to see where the most connections are coming from?

Well, the admin of WeMineLTC.com said it's not botnet: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=187900.msg1963152#msg1963152

Well I didn't penalize the user; I paid all the due coins.
I had no proof but I operated on:
1) The user IP came from a hong kong edu domain
2) No email provided so no contact to verify
3) Single user represented over 200 MH/s on the then-net rate of 600-700 MH/s
4) Public opinion

Hmm, my round shares are oscillating anywhere between 0.8 - 1.35 FC / round, yet my hash rate is only usually changing from about 2300 - 2700 kH/s. Any idea why there is such a large variance in the round reward?

P.s. Mining continuously.

Pool hash rate increase I presume.

If the pool hash rate doubled, the round times half so your reward will half.

If you go to Stats > User Stats and then click on Pool on the top right of the graph it'll give you a nice shot of the rise in pool hash rate Cheesy

This pool is making quite a profit at 1.7MH/s worth of fees. Wink
