Just read that Opencoin gives out free XRP to all account holders. Any idea how that works?

yes you can get in by signing up then click "bitcoin users claim free ripples" or simply follow this link
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=145506

BUT Anyone whose Bitcoin Forum account was created before February 19, 2013, 18:45 UTC, is eligible to receive XRP.

AND thats NOT me. no free xrp for me. Cry

i hate how i always miss the boat.

ALTHOUGH if any very genorous sirs/madames want to donate me some to:

doesn't seem so...got an email today from them:

Welcome to Ripple.com
April 17, 2013

What is Ripple?  Ripple is an open, money transaction network and is being described as a “potentially world-changing concept” by Bloomberg Businessweek.  And now you have a front-row seat.

As part of the Ripple network’s launch, we will be giving away billions of ripples to the world - and you will be one of the first to hear about it.  We will be announcing the details of future giveaways here on this email list in the next two weeks so keep an eye out.

And check out our blog to read two new interviews with the co-founders of OpenCoin about what math-based currency means for the world.

Thanks!

Hope that means I get some freebies Smiley

Just signed up, but no email like the one you had Sad

if you signed up on this forum before February 19, 2013, 18:45 UTC then your ok you may get some free xrp but if you signed up like me after forget it. if you want the xrp to just sell as soon as it takes off forget it. its supposed to be a currency.

xrp will never be as profitable as bitcoin, but probably a better system for regular punters

Profitable is a very relative term, there are many who will profit much from ripple as there are many who did not profit at all from BitCoin...

Why would it need to profitable? for that matter - why should bitcoin be profitable? The whole idea is to replace government fiat, not to be a high risk venture so people will buy BTC and change them back to USD as soon as the price shoots. As I see it, the end goal is to have a bitcoin economy independent of any currencies.
