BITCOIN has halted trading indefinitely and is promising to return everyone's money.

The virtual currency whose price has been fluctuating wildly over the last few weeks announced on its website that it must "cease all trading operations indefinitely...due to circumstances beyond its control".

The announcement comes after weeks of denial of service attacks and technical problems that led to severe price fluctuations.

"Unfortunately, our US bank account is scheduled to be closed and we can no longer provide the same level of USD deposits and withdrawals as we have in the past," wrote BitCoin founder Roman Shtylman.
"As such, I have made the decision to halt operations and return all funds.

"Over the next days we will be working with all clients to ensure that everyone receives their funds. Please be patient as we process your request."

Perhaps someone should have done a bit more research before writing this "article"...  Roll Eyes

"And what the enemy will see, they will see the flash of our cannons, and they will hear the ringing of our swords, and they will know what we can do! By the sweat of our brow and the strength of our backs and the courage in our hearts! Gentlemen, hoist the colors!"

Yeah, I feel a little embarrassed being in the same country right now Cheesy   I've left a comment on the site for what it's worth, but I doubt they'll publish it.

Maybe a reporter so young that they're actually a year ten student on work experience.

And now they've corrected the "news article" after I made an obnoxious comment. They haven't posted the comment, oddly enough.

It's still spelled "BitCoin". I guess they can't correct too much in one go.

I rebuffed them in the comments (no swearing).  The odds are not good they will publish it.

Geeze, someone forgot to turn off the block chain, I can still send coins! Those guys over at BitCoin can't even suspend operations correctly. Sad

Ha! We know it was you that picked the block chain padlock, Holliday. I think you'll find you wont get away with your evil plan quite so easily.

Err... CornedBeefHash made me do it! He called me yellow. No one calls me yellow. I think he took off though, haven't seen him around! Whatever you do, don't question the authorities!

Claiming you are being mentally controlled by a food product does little to lend credence to your claims of innocence.

Someone should probably lose their job for this.

You think far too highly of journalists working at the internet equivalent of a tabloid. No-one will lose their job over this, especially if the mistake brought more traffic to the site than it would otherwise.

Need proper dating!

Well now that BitCoin has collapsed (and refunded) there should be more time (and money) to focus on dating.
