Intresting coin. Good luck dev!
Thank you for support @btcsql when does the reward decrease again? I thought the OP said every 1000 blocks. @1000 it dropped from 1 to .99 I thought @2000 it should have gone to .98 but it's still .99 how does that calculation actually work?

So it's not adjusted every 1000 blocks like it said in the OP quoted below.
The reason I'm asking is I want to see it readjust again so we know it's working properly.as of now it's not doing what the OP says Alexandrite - ALEX
- PoW/PoS - PoW algo: SHA256 - 100 sec for both PoW and PoS block target time - difficulty retarget each block - 6 transaction confirmations - 80 minted block confirmations - Initial PoW payout will be 1 coin per block. - Block payout will be adjusted every 1000 blocks, according to the formula. - Minimum PoW payout will be 0.01 coin/block (will be reached at about 9.07 years). - Variable PoS payout 1st year 50% 2nd year 20% 3rd year 8% subsequent years = 3%
- Total coins generated within 10 years are about 1,268,000. - 4.9% premine for dev support.
Ports: Conn: 19530 RPC: 19531
payout = exp(-c*[height/1000]) coins with c = log5/1000 = 0.00160944

if you check the code, the payout is according to formula: exp(-c*[height/1000]) and c = log5/1000. in order to avoid too many digits, the dev rounded it to 2 decimals after the point, so you don't get 0.9933286326, but 0.99. This way, the payout will stay at 0.99 for several 1000s, due to the roundups. according to my computation: Block Payout 1000 0.99 2000 0.99 3000 0.99 4000 0.99 5000 0.99 6000 0.99 7000 0.98 ... 13000 0.97 ... 19000 0.96 etc hope this clarifies your question.

It does, I should have checked the code a little more and did the math.. My Bad However the Dev should add this info to the OP as the roundup changes the actual reward. as it reads now it's as if it changes every 1000 blocks but with the roundup it's more like every 6000 blocks, it's a bit deceiving.

I am going to assume your source code is in ~/alexandrite and that you are struggling with Linux compile. Execute the following commands, replacing the ~/alexandrite with where your source is. mkdir ~/alexandrite/src/obj mkdir ~/alexandrite/src/obj/zerocoin chmod +x ~/alexandrite/src/leveldb/build_detect_platform Then try to recompile.

Small premine compared to most. Worth mining IMO Might be small compared to most, but that's still 62000 coins that have now been split up into smaller chunks at different addresses and will be gaining 50% interest in the first year and 20% in the second year, the same as the regular miners, which makes it effectively much more than a 4.9% premine. A small premine might be acceptable to some, but why not do it fairly? Instead of premining a lump sum percentage of the total coins, why not have 4.9% of each generated block automatically rewarded to the dev's address. Developers get their fair share for the work they put in and have more incentive to create a longer lasting, quality product rather than some crappy knockoff, and miners and traders can have some confidence that the developer isn't just going to dump their pile of coins as soon as the price suits them. One thing missing from the coin specifications... how long do coins take to mature and start staking?

This looks like a nice coin I like how your block rate works it rewards early investors and I like that the pos goes down to also benefit early investors. I missed the first 1000 blocks though but eh. Hopefully this will do well in the exchange and people won't mindlessly dump.

For those who are worried that miners will sell cheap. Miners have around 2,500 coins on they hands at this moment. If you cant absorb that, then we cant talk about trading here. Mining costs are around 15.000 - 25.000 sats per coin, so thats guidline for investors at this moment.

I see sell orders really high on cryptopia, is coin really going to be that valuable, is there more info on coin. Is everyone holding and staking? How many on dev team, is there a twitter campaign. How big is community?
Edit: With the Low Inflation I can see the price going so high, would like to see a road-map of the coin , future plans.
*Would like to have Alexandrite (ALEX) Twitter account to retweet your campaign
Thank you

No dump for now, buy support rise Yes I been trying to buy all night, I may just have to buy it up on the sell side. If staking, would you need coin weight to stake quicker? If so coin would be hard to get dump on. 68,478 Coins have been mined so far. Dev holds 62,000 coin for Development, leaves 6,478 Coins are out there. Will be on Yobit and bittrex soon, THEN THE PRICE WILL (:Spread:) RISE HIGHER.

Not all miners are selling. While its not on some scamy multpool it is safe. And this price is not that high taking it has limited supply. People entered on LUNA at 50.000 sats with blockreward 25 times higher

People entered on LUNA at 50.000 sats with blockreward 25 times higher I just started mining now I rented some hash. I don't plan to sell. The pow is high now and it lowers every 1000 blocks also the pos is 50% first year then goes down so it is a good idea to mine then stake with the 50% then by next year you have so many coins it is ok at staking at 20% and you will be ahead.

not enough info., more future plans pls.
There is NO "roadmap" here and false promises!
Today will be released website, web and mobile wallet. We need good thread design for bitcointalk. (pm me for bounty)
In about 1 week max. ONLINE AIRDROP! Reason: not fair to miners. After that we will work on promotion of ALEX and more exchanges.

yup - blocktime around 1 minute x confirmations for exchange - around 20 min 95 % of airdrop is dumped on closest buy order. Have seen so many coins making mistake with airdrop. It is extreamly unfair for early traders and miners

After that we will work on promotion of ALEX and more exchanges.People are spending a lot of money to mine this at the moment. If you do an airdrop it is a slap in the face of the current miners and you are giving the message that people dont have to mine anymore bit rather wait for free coins. Why pay for something if you can get it for free right? If you do an airdrop it will be bad for your business plan and the coin will fail. If you do go ahead with an airdrop everyone will know you are not serious.

Good man, thanks for listening. 2 of previous devs didnt listen and now they coins are below 10 sats. You have quite good community behind you now, if we do thing right this can turn out very good project that will benefit community and in extend you. Just keep up good work on features and exchanges and you will have yourself a good coin. All the best

You will blame a gun for a death ? The car is at fault you crashed ? No !! Keep the airdrops but don't be an idiot about it. It is very easy. Do not publicly open airdrops or you will get small minded idiots who dump for pennies because that is what they are worth they are beggers and losers. Punish everyone because of them ? no thanks. Give airdrops to people who show interest in the projects and you know will hold. Don't go making an airdrop thread that will attract idiots. Just quitely give airdrops to people noone has to know who gets what. You should reward people not just give it away for free.

I personally think that rounding the edges of square boxes can positively impact users, and therefore coins performance in Litecoin markets I dont see any correlation between ltc trading pairs and rounded edges. But u talk about square boxes, alright Im gonna chime in and tell without fear of being arrested that I dont condone smoothed / rounded design. When I was building my last theme in vsb I made a choice in favor of strict corners and pure geometric patterns. I totally resized caption areas to move the buttons to the right side of a dwm window frame.

hmm, low inflation, static reward for a long time, SHA256 (kinda boring but i wont bitch), not a terrible premine in comparison to total supply, idk, might throw some GEkko sticks at this see what happens in 3 months haha. kinda catchy name, will prob stick around even if the DEV fails out ;p NOT BAD! haha, Good Luck OP! This gets a C+ from me in its current state (fairly high in comparison to other coins launched daily ;p)

On exchange does anyone else see Between 0.00039990 and 0.00041999 there are invisible coin for sale?
And if you click on the last sell order its show it would cost 120541.17220713 BTC to buy 1203.00571065 ALEX, But on the line in sell column its shows it would cost 881.00000 BTC?
Seems confusing. Does anyone else sell side show the same, the order aren't adding up, and very many invisible coins are up for sale. All up and down the sell side.
Thank you for you input.
Same bug here. But yobit hase same error. So never trust the btc sum side

How stupid are dumpers ? xP What they dump could be free tokens that people dispose of at any meaningful price as there seem not to be any perspectives for getting on an exchange with better liquidity. Cost of electricity wasted on mining might be negligible or next to zero tho. There could be a scenario in which mining expanses may be positive meaning miners get paid on top of their regular rewards for wasting their hash on alex.

More than 45000 ALEX dumped by someone in blocks of 3000. Since we're only 8000 blocks into a coin with a block reward of less than 1, the only place that many coins could have come from is the developer's 4.9% premine. On the one hand, you ought to be ashamed of yourself for screwing over the people that are supporting your coin, but on the other, you just made 12+ BTC and probably couldn't care less what anybody else thinks.

Or it is just a bot to create volume. There has never been that size of buy orders so it would not suddenly appear to be dumped into either. The probability is much higher that it is rather someone with 3000 that sold into its own orders with 3000 coins at a time.

I just tried it with a block of 20 coins and you can indeed sell into your own orders. It seems like poor programming that the interface would allow you to sell yourself your own assets, and I don't know why anybody would want to... it still costs the trading fee, and it does nothing for the price, so what is the point of creating false volume? In any case, I withdraw the accusation of dev dumping.

its perfectly normal action these days. i do that to my coins i make or own a big bag as well. But mostly to get them on top of the coin list to attract attention of traders. It is not pump and dump i think but just to raise awareness. And its not certain its dev doing that

The other reason is that high volume earns higher fees to the exchange that makes the exchange see a coin more favorably. Exchanges dont care (under most conditions) who buys and sells as long as they earn the fees. An exchange is a business. Higher volume also ensures that a coin remains listed. It has become normal practice in altcoin world and you will hardly find any coin where this does not happen.

I mined and was looking forward to staking as an early investor enjoying the 50% till next year before the coin is popular. The pool http://ypool.ga/alex stole all my coins. The sire is down no response even. Now what ? Lost forever ? Anyone else lost their coins at http://ypool.ga/alex ? I used http://ypool.ga/alex for Lana and it was fine. But the entire pool is down. That whole site is gone. Every single coin pool gone. Owner must have ran with the profits. I saw many people minig alex with massive hashrates. I will be very careful next time as to what pools I use. I used them because they had worked so well in the past but now I think using a pool that send the funds directly to your wallet with no registration is alot better.

You must just set the payout amount very low for a lesser known pool. If you set Alex to 5 coins for example, it will payout every 5 coins and then you can max lose 5-20 coins depending on your hash rate and uncofirmed coins. If you did not set a low limit then it is your own fault. Maybe the owner will return.

Here are the Alexandrite Raspberry Pi wallets (headless and Qt) for Raspbian Jessie (v8) as well as a blockchain snapshot. The wallet has been tested on both a Pi2 and Pi3. Since Alexandrite has a great appeal for staking, it makes sense to stake on a Pi at low electricity cost. Important: 1) Always backup your wallet.dat first before you do anything 2) The wallets were built on Raspberry Pi2/3 (ARM) running Raspbian Jessie (v8) and the instructions and scripts assume you are running as user "pi". It is a pre-requisite to have Jessie installed on your Pi micro-SD card. You can find instructions of how to do this on https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/ by either installing n00bs and selecting your OS or by downloading the image of the OS. NB! It is important that if you do a fresh install from an older Jessie image, that you first expand your file system with raspi-config. It is the first option in the menu. The default image they provide installs a partition of about 3.5GB and it needs to be expanded to 8GB or you will not have enough space for the installation. However, if you use the later Jessie image from May 2016, the file system will be expanded automatically. It is furthermore always a good idea to select the boot options in raspi-config to boot to a command prompt with authentication. You can then start the graphical desktop with "startx" manually. This helps with issues during upgrades. 3) The installation script installs the required dependencies automatically. If you have not done a recent upgrade, you might be presented with a screen of text during the Mozilla security certificate upgrade. If this happens, just scroll down and press "q" and the installation will continue. 4) Installation directory where the binaries are installed is ~/opt/alex or /home/pi/opt/alex 5) To run the wallets after installation go to the directory with the wallets and run the wallet file - ./Alexandrited for the headless wallet at the command line or click on the Alexandrite icon on the desktop or run the Alexandrite-Qt wallet file. 6) An Internet connection is required for the installation 7) You need at least an 8GB memory card for the wallet. 8.) The installation itself takes about 45min on an out-of-the-box Pi. 9) You cannot just download the dynamic wallets, you have to run the script to get the dependencies as well else it will not run. 10) The installation script enables the ufw firewall by default, but does not force any special rules. The wallet still works this way with the port blocked. If however you want to enable it to become a fully functional node, un-comment the ufw lines in the script and add the ports you want open (19531 for Alex) and run it again or easier, enable it manually by running the command "sudo ufw enable 19531" at the command line. 11) Always verify the checksums when you download files to make sure it was downloaded ok. To verify the checksums on your Pi, go to the ~/opt/alex folder and execute sha256sum <filename> and md5sum <filename> and compare the values with the values in the checksums.txt file. 12) The Alexandrite wallet uses a bootstrap.dat file which is installed automatically by the script up to block 8552. Instructions to use the headless command line daemon wallet: 1) The installation script creates an Alexandrite.conf file with the startup settings in it. Go to the folder with the binaries ~/opt/alex and enter ./Alexandrited in a terminal window or at the command line to start the server 2) After the wallet has started and loaded the blockchain (give it a minute or so) you can enter the normal wallet commands that you would as in a Windows debug console preceded with ./Alexandrited eg. "./Alexandrited getinfo". 3) Remember to always make a backup of your wallet.dat file before you do anything like encrypting it 4) To encrypt your wallet run the command ./Alexandrited encryptwallet <yourpassword> 5) Once you have the wallet running, blockchain loaded and your wallet with coins on the Pi, then you can kickstart staking by executing ./Alexandrited walletpassphrase <yourwalletpassword> 99999999 true Instructions to use the Qt wallet: 1) The wallet works exactly the same as the one in Windows. To kickstart the installation execute the following commands at the command prompt or in a terminal window on your Pi. wget https://bitbucket.org/jc12345/alex/downloads/alex_installation_pi.sh && chmod +x alex_installation_pi.sh && ./alex_installation_pi.sh && rm -f alex_installation_pi* Let me know if there are any issues. You can rent an asic miner online and point it at a pool. This way you become an asic miner yourself.

Dont be so hard on Nikl and Ypool. ga , it has bean around for long time and sorted out all my problem, even ones caused by myself. There is lot of things that can go wrong like hardware failure, internet connection or attack. I have around 800 Alex stuck there, but im not worried a bit. Just give it a time

Only person that will do well here is the dev.
Premine 4.9% and rest of coins mining for 10 years lol.
Easy way to hide a huge premine with low rewards.

How many blocks does that premine worth then?
Premine is 1 268 000 (million) and reward one coin a block so 1 268 000 blocks

You must just set the payout amount very low for a lesser known pool. If you set Alex to 5 coins for example, it will payout every 5 coins and then you can max lose 5-20 coins depending on your hash rate and uncofirmed coins. If you did not set a low limit then it is your own fault. Maybe the owner will return. So you telling me it's my fault a poll dissipated ? You have a strange definition of justice -_- Just the dumpers dude. It happens almost always. Not always a bad thing since now we can take advantage of their foolishness if they dump even for the first year lol which won't happen that's far too long but even if taht happens we will benefit for cheaper prices and the 50% pos and since we own most of the coins our weigh will be good. xD

I also am starting to worry a little bit about that. Why doesn't the dev explain what is going on. It look like the 4.9% premined coins generating more coins from staking than from the group of people who is mining.

any others have problem with the wallet not connecting to the network?
i am , did you solved ?? , cause my wallet says 0 active connections i fixed it, best you can do is make an conf file. and add the nodes No idea how to do that I presume you are on Windows. 1. Change directory to your roaming folder (c:\users\yourusername\appdata\roaming\Alexandrite) 2. Create a file in Notepad called Alexandrite.conf and save it in this folder 3. Put the info below in the Alexandrite.conf file 4. Start the wallet rpcuser=user rpcpassword=choose_a_password_and_put_it_here rpcallowip = 127.0.0.1 server = 1 daemon = 1 listen = 1 addnode=192.227.251.234 addnode=91.134.120.210 addnode=87.98.142.204 addnode=5.9.165.252 addnode=194.135.85.41 addnode=176.8.54.13 addnode=41.135.115.19 addnode=81.65.9.22 addnode=88.15.4.10 addnode=45.76.168.235 You may have to go to windows explorer, goto Organize tab on tool bar.. select Folder and Search options... select View...mark Show hidden files, folders, and drives... this will let you see appdata folder. Make sure you rename Alexandrite.txt to Alexandrite.conf then restart wallet. Should connect.

It's starting to look that way, this dev is a scammer, unless proven otherwise I would stay far away from this.

Pity that the block explorers listed do not have taint analysis like chainz does. Then it would have been easy to identify the exchange accounts if everyone withdrew their coins and put it back again. This is because of how exchange accounts work.

There is only about 72k coins available right now and dev holds somewhere 62k coins (LOL!!) not including 50% of STAKING he has been getting....so there is only 5k or 7k from miners. And there was over 50k coins dumped since this morning alone.. not mentioning last couple of days of continuous dumping. SMH lol

Yep, this baby is dead, moving on I have a different theory. I think, that ypool was hacked, the wallet stolen and the coins dumped in the market. The dev transferred half of his coins to the exchanges to sell and buy with a bot to create market volume. Then you dumped your 3700 instamined coins to make 1 BTC profit. Holyblood and the other guy that mined with 90THs on ypool also sold some. It is difficult to confirm anything without a good block explorer. or the dev dumped his coins

There is one more reasonability test. The total of coins on the sell side must be lower than the total supply minus dev premine minus +-10% that is staking. As soon as the total on the sell side exceeds this number it means that the dev sold some of the premine. This test is based on the assumption that users that buy in good faith will most probably put their coins up for sale at a higher price to make profit. At this point the total on the sell side is about 4800 on the 3 exchanges. If 32k was indeed dumped, the sell side would have been at least 15k+ One could argue that the coins were removed for staking but staking reward is low and therefore the incentive to stake is low and POS difficulty is also still low.
Based on this I would say that the probability is much higher that about two players are creating volume, one with a bot, and one took profit with a large percentage of his coins.

All the dev have to do is come out and show his premine address and tell everyone how much he sold and how much he have left.
If he stay quiet and say nothing which means he dumped them all and nothing else to show he is on to making the next scam coin.

Yes that would help. I guess things will crystallize in the next 24 hours. PS: Until the sell side breaks the threshold, your comments are FUD. Keep checking and as soon as the threshold is broken, post here then you have evidence.

Until dev show evidence, he is 100% scammer.

Now you are saying he just has his coins on the exchange. A dev that does not disclose his addresses is not a scammer because of that. It is only when a dev dumps his premine that he becomes a scammer. My suggestion is that you keep a close eye on the sell side and tell us as soon as you notice the threshold being broken. You could be right though, and if he does dump then your assessment becomes true.

Most of the time in alt-coins devs do turn out to be scammers. I would therefore not be surprized if it turns out to be the case here as well. Lets see how it plays out.

well it should be learn mate, this yobit bot is really making some convincing scene for those newbies thinking that the coin really making it out great but in the reality it is the dev itself who's playing with his project and ready to dump after seeing some support better to assess before buying alts mate.

But as we well know most of people are money whores and will do anything for little change PS: I fell sorry for those of you who lost your BTC on this, but dont be to upset. Or just had false hope in decency of people - again I guess the dev did not think we can do maths and the reasonability test caught him out. Strange how the amount of effort increases in the attempts e.g. mobile and web wallets. In essence the dev cannot pull sell orders of accounts he does not control, hence chances are high that sell orders are from good faith buyers and if it is more than mined coins it can only come from the premine. The test can be improved by also subtracting dev declared sales. Premine is public accountable and therefore if the dev declares premine sales for things like development before he sells then those sells are also legitimate.

Well that is my point, after all good work he could just go on as legit dev with solid coin. Now it is like getting a nice job in bank and steal a dollar But as we know avarage IQ is dropping and sadly there is no hope for this guy

Oh well, im glad i sold most before dev dumped.... could make a good coin and make dev some constant good money, but i guess few BTC for candies is better option Lol he likes his candy xP Buys them with his pennies he scraps up xP Expensive lesson ...
well it should be learn mate, this yobit bot is really making some convincing scene for those newbies thinking that the coin really making it out great but in the reality it is the dev itself who's playing with his project and ready to dump after seeing some support better to assess before buying alts mate. Bottom line - Dev is idiot, he could make so much more as project was doing fine and could earn him at least 10 times more if he would sell his coins slowly. But as we well know most of people are money whores and will do anything for little change PS: I fell sorry for those of you who lost your BTC on this, but dont be to upset. Even i felt for this scam and im usually pretty good at spotting them. Now it is like getting a nice job in bank and steal a dollar But as we know avarage IQ is dropping and sadly there is no hope for this guy We all know what the Dev did. They just said or did whatever it takes to make things interesting enough for us to stay mean while the Dev plans to dump. This thread is full of accusations and they have not been addressed the Dev stays silent. That is all we need to know. Now if we buy at anytime the Dev will have his premine to ruin any profits for anyone so it is probably best not to buy Alex.

Saw a new UNO market today, Alexandrite, ALEX, so wanted to check it out.. Some coins don't last 2 weeks. Some, like UNO, make it into their 4th year. What I don't get is.... why chase shit like ALEX? This wasn't even a good crypto scam. It was like Lemurcoin 2.0, right out of 2014. Why chase shit like ALEX when there's UNO -- a proven, fair launch, merged mine, low inflation, no-premine, no-POS, no bull-shit, no scam rare cryptocurrency with a long term community and dev, traded directly to 300 markets (including ALEX), that is proven to survive pnd and exchange failures? Some coins want to be UNO... one IS Uno. Make UNO your home base coin.

I can think of 50 crypto projects that might contribute to humanity someday, but your baby is no more than a speculative bubble. Calling something a ‘commodity’... and pumping it regularly is just a slightly more sophisticated long game scam.

No it won't. The Dev controls the currency. We will never make profit here. When we buy in and mine at a price we can profit off ofthe Dev will simply dump and destroy everything. The Dev is a fail. Why even have 50% first year then 20% second year as if it was gonna make it that far when clearly it won't because the greedy Dev has other ideas.

I will buy and stake. Don't know if you should. This coin is dodgy and the Dev is beyond a doubt up to no good. Well good for him not for us.... Maybe. I think if you a Dev you can make more being legit since the coin gets so big even if you get a small cut it is alot. Invest if you want but just think about that.

PoS is working?
ive managed to stake once, and my CoinAge reset, so we'll see if i stake again today. id only set the wallet up this past week and transferred in some ALEX a few days after that. its still a nice young blockchain, though, and although ive only got a connection count of 2 other peers, and the network stake weight is only 839, if its good to pull in .5 ALEX based on my small balance every day, im content with that.... most of the consensus right now is going on thru POW, and seemingly centralized towards one pool, but thats simply the nature of crypto-economics.... i miss the days when every qt-wallet had the "setgenerate true" option on the console. (although the POW diff for ALEX would make that pretty useless anyhow) its too bad the dev bailed on this one, and sold out his holdings, but in a way, thats a good thing. he didnt have a great big honking premine (62,200 ALEX) and from the sounds of reading the forum up til now, he sold it and disappeared, which evens out the economic playing field for the rest of us. theres only 120,000 ALEX in existence, although the bulk of daily mining seems to be going to one pool and one miner, the overall yearly inflation of the currency is still manageable. its innovative code enough, and the payout structure is a little dizzying, but updating projects like this is getting easier and easier, wouldnt take much for a small group of community members to take the helm, clone the github and compile releases, fork the currency down the road and take control. the economic model is good enough, and as a community we have the ability to control the future of it, without a lead dev, rather than bitching and whining because the dveloper ran off with his small profits, as happens with 75% of every crypto project.

Because the Dev sold what he had from the premine and has run away, leaving everyone holding a bag of worthless nothings. You could mine it... you can trade it... but its not going anywhere. I agree 100%.this coin has entered the shitcoin universe! But with that low supply, roughly 120k coins, this can hit +9999% at some point like every other shitcoin.Actually this only needs 1 btc to make an x10 on Yobit!I'm sure pump groups will honour it.But first you will have to sell them your coins really low

I find it rather interesting that after the Dev goes <poof> all these pools start popping up. A pump sign ... possibly, but we all know what happens after a dead coin is pumped.

I love that this project is still going this project has like 3 years already? doesn't seem to be "going" at the moment. It's 1 year old I believe but some serious work is needed to be revived Keeping the very small market cap in mind, it can become extremely profitable if played right indeed, its more 2 years . ı was one of fırst buyers of thıs coin. ı can remember i payed 32k sat per coin. it staked nıce till it dıdnt get synced anymore... i even lost 500 coıns due the transfer ( after i send it suddenly dıdnt sync anymore, reinstall from scratcht dıdnt help neıther ) ... just hopıng it wıll be resolved again

seems like there are no miners for alexcoin, you can mine alexcoin to move the chain again. The algo is sha256 so I can recommend you to buy a cheap used asic to start mining
