I'm just wondering if this is normal --

I have a Radeon 6990 with no overclocking applied running cgminer 2.11 on BAMT 0.5c:

"intensity" : "9,9",
"vectors" : "2,2",
"worksize" : "128,128",
"kernel" : "phatk,phatk",
"gpu-engine" : "0-0,0-0",
"gpu-fan" : "0-0,0-0",
"gpu-memclock" : "0,0",
"gpu-memdiff" : "0,0",
"gpu-powertune" : "0,0",
"gpu-vddc" : "0.000,0.000",
"temp-cutoff" : "95,95",
"temp-overheat" : "0,0",
"temp-target" : "0,0",
"api-listen" : true,
"api-port" : "4028",
"expiry" : "120",
"gpu-dyninterval" : "7",
"gpu-platform" : "0",
"gpu-threads" : "2",
"log" : "5",
"queue" : "1",
"retry-pause" : "5",
"scan-time" : "60",
"temp-hysteresis" : "3",
"shares" : "0",
"kernel-path" : "/usr/local/bin"

But gpumon tells me that GPU0 is exceeding 95C while GPU1 is at 75.5C at 97% load. Is this normal for Radeon 6990 cards?

you try the settings from GUIminer for the 6990?

looks like you may need to put in some temp/fan values

Downclock the memory, try with fixed gpu fan 70%

Was able to replace it with a different card from the same guy I bought the card from. The 2nd card didn't exhibit this behaviour. There might be something wrong with GPU0 of the previous card or the thermal conduction to the dissipating unit is not that good.

Via gpumon, the GPU fan is at 100% even if the value is "0-0." At 100% GPU fan speed, the temp hovers around 82-83 degrees and lowering this to 90% increases the temp to 84-86 degrees.

Set memclock ~300-350MHz.

Can you show us a picture of the setup? If it's your top card and they are directly next to eachother, it could be suffocating. However depending on your OS, the senor may not be reading correctly. I'd try getting an IR thermometor and seeing how accurate the output of the software is since GPU's are already crying by this time.

no, it's just a configuration file change.

I've found CGminer to be the best. Change gpu fan from 0-0, 0-0 to 0-75, 0-75. Hard to keep a GPU cool when the GPU fan isn't running  Grin

Also only use Intensity = 9 if you are just mining and don't plan on web browsing/facebook games etc. also you should have MSI Afterburner to manually change the mem clock settings and fan speeds and to monitor your temps as well. Good Luck!
