Hi,
Got here through this link
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=145506 and this one
http://www.btcpedia.com/how-to-buy-ripple-xrp/. I've already had a MT Gox account set up and transferred BTC to my Bitstamp attempting to exchange them into XRP. Yes, I failed miserably as you probably already figured out. The data on the above topic seems to have passed and the only other option is to get a free XRP from other users. Any advice for this newbie? Or perhaps there's a friendly user willing to send me 300 XRP to rHcKwR6Y2mge6neZhk9aH1kExrtdx4bcwZ, going for the long shot here.
Not to make this topic completely dull, I do have a question that I didn't find a clear answer to skimming the web or this forum. Is the Ripple currency limited to 100 billion or is there a way to expand it. To the average reader, which I unfortunately am, the lack of mining efforts required make it sound like a "out-of-thin-air" Bitcoin alternative. Who is controlling the code for this currency, is it Opencoin? Probably an ignorant question, but please do enlighten me.
Cheers,
Frank
