What is sad is that this doesn't piss people, even those unaware of bitcoin, off.  If I heard some psychobabble like that on the radio, I would immediately research (and perhaps support) whatever they're talking about. Sounds like soviet era propaganda, just the "happy but shoved in your face tone" is annoying, like trying to convince a 5 year old not to eat that red berry.

It's like the article I read the other day where someone in government was saying bitcoin was bad because we need "Government to have the ability to print money without controls." Well, I know that's what they're doing, but how can they openly say that and not cause a general freak out?

Best part of this add, about the bearer bonds requiring a social security number (which shouldn't be) is that they imply some similar mechanism will come into play for BTC. In the US, perhaps. But this is a worldwide thing, I suspect will start gaining more support outside of the US.

So Bitcoin = bad because you have to exchange it for dollars and the banks/govt control dollars?

Maybe someone should let Charter Trust Golden Bars know about .... exchanging BTC for Gold (or other goods & services).

I mean the "warning" is only applicable if the only entry and exit point to bitcoin was USD (i.e. USD -> BTC -> USD).

The guy on the radio failed to note that (at least now) you have to exchange gold for dollars too if you want to spend them.

"Bitcoin is bad because a long time ago some different thing issued by government turned out not to work as promised".

What incredible logic.

Makes me want to sell the gold I just bought (with bitcoins btw).

Thats an extremely weird concept that anyone would spend money to try and smear an obscure thing such as bitcoin.

How could people not doing something benefit this guy?

Is it reverse psychology to get people to look up bitcoin?

Would this fall under some kind of public service announcement that didnt cost ad money?

No, they paid money for the ad.  They were trying to promote their own company but did a pretty poor job of that.
