What are you mining; Litecoin I presume. Well first I would join a pool, solo mining is pointless.

oh wow... ouch bad rate. i think its being said 700 h/s on calarz's post. which is really bad.... especially now a days. are you using your cpu or gpu. cpu i could see getting this kind of rate, but gpu should be much higher. assuming  you have a decent card.

and yes. join a pool..... i use btcguild.com its reliable for me so far.

Considering he mentioned GUIMiner, then it must be graphics card mining...

Solo mining would take you ages to see some returns (especially if it's BTC),
as others said join a good pool...  Grin

So, I am still new to this whole mining thing (and to all of this cryptocurrency stuff), and don't have a GPU capable of mining.  What entry level gpu do you guys recommend? Go with a $50 cheapie, or spend a bit more (no way am i spending $900 though)!

Guiminer does CPU too

Walk away op, unless your planning on 5 7950 or some such, you won't get far ATM

Need gh/s these day, unless you in it for kicks n giggles

I'm asking a dumb question, since this is a noob forum. If you have a GPU miner, is that run out of a desktop cpu, for example could a old mac G4 support this kind of mining? Or where is a good place to start to learn how to make a mining rig?

hey, im trying to figure out the best rig. i read taco's post and it seems really good. however i have heard people say that its too late to start mining ltc Sad I do hope not but i need to find out what the deal is before i spend over a £1000 yu see.  So.. is it worth it? what would upgrading be like in year and the finance side of things?
Cheers if you can help me out on this.. On the verge of buying a rig and just need some assurance. Undecided

it's never to late to start.   just get it and do it.  It's a learning process....do not consider mining a get rich quick proposition.  Just keep making progress.... pick a good pool and some good coins.  the value of whatever you mine will just get better over time.   unless of course the whole thing folds.   which i don't think will happen.  Cool

LTC - may be not late, but BTC... unless you are ready to compete with hardware miners (FCPGA; ASIC) - dont do it. IMHO

so im readong Tacos post but cant post there yet...if i did put 4 X 7950's in one machine would i use the 1 up from the TX850 PSU? Also if i hooked 4 X 1600khs rigs up in a row, would the mining be split over them. so making less than if i had just one really powerful rig?

What's the best solution?
I@m looking to get 6.4ghs but will be happy with 4.8
 Undecided
cheers

you use a pool, if your total gh/s is X is doesn't matter if its from 5 machines or 1 machine
