No you're absolutely right -I'm not defending them - in fact for the first time in my IT career, I considering trying something nefarious with them, but I just rationalised it away. Nothing I can do about it.

Why does your website redirect to BTCCheap.com?

I'm at work now, typing on phone. Received email from mining united before website redirected to btccheap. Have more info, will type back in 3-4 hours. Can't check wallet right now.

We have sent you 1.00 BitCoin as an immediate emergency refund.

We are currently experiencing hacking attempts from bttcheap.com! They locked out our gmail!

MU Support Team MiningUnited.com - BitCoin Shared Servers

Tried to email back, got automated email immediately from btccheap. Email said that MU email box was deleted and to contact btccheap.

Btccheap's website seems to be ALMOST the same as MU, but sections are different with poorer grammer, misspellings.

Of course they are going to say that they were "hacked" to try and keep at least a shred of the rep they still have. I looked into MU when they first started and tested a few times. Once their payments turned out to be SIGNIFICANTLY less than what was "promised", I decided it wasn't worth the risk. I always thought of it as a ponzi and was going to cut and run at some point, I'm just surprised that it took this long. There was no way that they were mining enough based on the 12 cards that they claimed to be using.

If you lost your BTC I'm sorry, but putting your trust in a shady site can and will always have its drawbacks.

No, I'm fine. Even without the 1 btc, I'm ok. I made more then I just lost. Had about 0.4 with them unpaid. We will find out in a few hours what happened with my wallet. Expect the worst, hope for the best.

This is such an awesome story in progress. Not awesome as in it was cool he ripped people off but awesome in the sense of "Holy crap, there are major shenanigans going down with this." Yes, I said shenanigans. I may even toss out high-jinks and monkey business later.
Sorry to everyone who has or will potentially lose coins from this.
And geez, you guys with all the coins to throw around...? $3000 bucks...really? Feel free to send some BTC love my way anytime if you feel your coinbag is getting too heavy.
I was nervous sending in my .05 payment.  Undecided
I guess that's what being old and having a mortgage and kids will do to you.
Love that most of the older posters here were/are calling this stage by stage as it happens. Interesting to see the next few chapters and how this plays out.

They seem very very manipulative. THERE IS NO HACK.
So I'm assuming this is a mind trick. I'm thinking they will pay and build your confidence even higher, enough to get your 30 btc.
THERE IS NO HACK. This guy must be either very dumb or very smart. Probably studied psychology.

Considering how vocal he was in here regarding the other issues that were raised it's interesting to note he hasn't been back for damage control yet.
[sarcasm] Maybe his forum ID was hacked as well? [/sarcasm] Looks like he hasn't been on in a couple of days if I'm not mistaken.

I have been wondering how you are going to scale your scam in order to increase your take.

Now we know:  http://www.btccheap.com/index.html

Just make duplicate web sites!  Nice...

Once again, your assumptions have you wrong.

BTCCheap.com is a blatant, obvious, copy of our website. We are in NO WAY related to this website, all the way down to the DNS's being different. The have copied ALL of our pages literally word-for-word. Shortly after the website went up this was sent to us:

Quote
"why yuu copy my website! you take down your website. it is mine."

Quote
Creation date: 07 May 2013 15:29:00
It was registered on May 7, almost a month after our website.

MiningUnited is NOT responsible for loss of BitCoin from using the copy website BTCCheap.com. We have already had several email's from people who used that 'scam copy' website saying that they have lost BitCoin after several days with no contact back from this copy website.

Can you update us on this situation since the sites been hacked.

You really should be able to get a new site up in an afternoon if you still have access to your registrar.

On Saturday I asked them about the other site that appeared to be copying them and this was their reply:

"Yes, and we are currently suffering hacking attempts & DDoS attacks. We were notified by GoDaddy.com and our account is locked due to too many 'incorrect password attempts' as well.

Someone (some group) is trying to ruin our service. As you can see, that website totally stole all our scripting. Since it looks like us, people think it is us. Not good.

I just now tried emailing them and got this back:

"Hai!

Please a contact us btccheap.com! We love hear you from!

BTCcheap@Gmail.com - The Easy Way to Generate BitCoin!

This mailbox is no longer monitored you'r message will be deleted! Contact us new mail!"

The grammar is horrible.  The original site and email replies did not suffer from this so now I'm wondering if they really did get hacked.  Either way, I got my bitcoin back before this happened so I'm good LOL.

Can someone who is better versed in this than me look at the block chain and tell me if it looks like they are still paying people out.
Here's a cached copy of their transaction page: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:Un12d5abLu0J:www.miningunited.com/trans.html+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&client=opera

That cached page is pretty old, just taking a quick look, the last one in that list was purchased on May 7 and paid on May 14, so prior to current issues.

I didn't get paid on my last transaction, which was only a couple hours behind another one that did get paid, so it looks bad.
