My bad Smiley. My background is in L$ so I tend to think everyone knows them. L$ are the currency of secondlife.com. It is a very stable currency and easy to exchange for many real world currencies on a myriad of exchanges. You can even exchange L$ for bitcoins on Virwox.com but their trading limits are bit low.

Best.

The problem with virwox when you are trying to do something more than buy spending money is they charge a conversion fee, a withdrawl fee, and a spread. It gets expensive fast.

Do you sell bitcoins for Linden Dollars? If so, I'm interested in buying. I am a well-known person in Secondlife with high rep.

I'm confused - I bought my first BTC with Linden dollars via Virwox 1-2 years ago but at some point didn't they stop BTC trading?
Does it depend on where you live - I'm in UK? It's not available as an option for me on their site anymore.  Sad

I'm not sure what happened there. I have been able to trade with them continually since they put Bitcoins up several years ago except for a short period when they shut it down.

Please PM me for a current quote, prices are very volatile and whatever I post here will be pretty much out of date within an hour or so. I am happy to do escrow. Subject to verification procedures I am also willing to send first on small transactions until my reputation builds up a bit.

I think 99% of the people who use linden dollar on this forum does not play the game and probably don't even know it, it is just a way to buy bitcoins by buying linden dollars with a credit card

Hahahaha. I get that one a lot when I tell people what I do for a living. Basically Linden Labs messed up when they removed gambling, number of players went down drastically from there. They also moved prostitutes to "Mature" areas, etc.

In the good old days you might sell 5-8kUSD in a single night to a single casino owner, now a days it mostly a medium size number of smaller transactions.

So yeah, people still play and the Linden Dollar relative to the USD is a VERY stable currency but the the market has shrunk considerably from its peak back in 07.

Best.

Very true. It is a worthwhile economy to be looking into though for people (like bitcoiners) who are interested in virtual currencies.

You can also trade BTC vs L$ at The Rock Trading.

I actually do 90% of my bitcoin trading there, they have some BTC (and L$) investment funds as well.

The Rock HQ is in Buttermere region in SecondLife.

I just looked through the website and I was excited because the L$/BTC exchange rate and fees were better than Virwox but the site is very poorly constructed. I deposited L$ which never showed up to my account, I tried to withdraw them and I was not allowed to. For a virtual "stock market" their listed liquidity is only about 12k USD and their BTC volume is very low. It feels very scammy to me since I know the history of the Bank run in SL they claim to have insured and, well, they took my money and they haven't given it back yet.

It's that or it's really a hobby website trying to pose as more than it is.

I appreciate the link though, I like to know what exchanges are out there Smiley. I'll let you know if they give me my money back.
