if you want accurate (meaning the exchange price) then check the exchange or sites that report it live from exchange.
it is 1211.1 at bitfinex right now.
preev gets it directly from exchanges and more importantly is the update rate. it updates every couple of seconds. but most other places update it with longer intervals and on a fast rising price like this you get things later.
and also some of them report average price. so ounce.me is either late on updating or is reporting average.

It's at $1215 right now @ Bitfinex. I'm viewing these prices at bitcoinwisdom and man, I must say that the long wait is over--or should I say it paid off really well. Been hesitating to sell my coins since the rise to $700 and I'm glad I haven't sold them and here we are right now. ATH is inevitable, though it wouldn't stop there.

I hope this is not a psychological barrier for investors, but rather a break out point where we will see record high prices for the coming months. Once people see that we can go past the gold price, they will start talking about this technology that are more valuable than gold.

I wonder if it's a record ( I think so) I always used "the Wiz" ..with BTCe (because i was always a BTCe trader)  But your site interesting so i bookmarked it (i have some gold & silver and VERY little BTC + some LTC) Oh and i have modded the Wiz page with Adblock and AdblockPlus Element hider on Firefox. (no Ads) ..and a color script i use with GreaseMonkey for ALL web pages. |

Yes it already break the $1200 dollar mark and still increasing.  This is a good news to bitcoin holder and I think it surpassed its record. It is hitting more than its all time high which is previous high of $1,163 last November 29, 2013. truly, bright future ahead for bitcoin. |

Bitcoin is always surprising us with it's price movement and for real now it's on $1,200 and I believe that it will keep on increasing.
This is what everyone is saying that bitcoin is 'flying up to the moon', 'skyrocket' and everyone's description with it is actually right.
I saw it with preev and it's also $1,207.

I would advise you to always use Preev, as their rates are always perfect. Secondly most of the trades here are done on the basis of preev rates only. So stick with preev rates, as it will be more helpful. Now coming to the price 1200$+ it's just amazing to see this run of Bitcoins. Last year it touched 1000$ plus and we all were like it will cross 1500$ this year. And it's already 1200$+ and with global uncertainty growing and growing thanks to trump policies and brexit looming. I feel 1500$ should be a reality soon, let's hope very soon.

I have been waiting from the morning (where I live) all the way until now, hoping and praying that the price would go over $1250, which is around the price that it crashed the last time. Still have to wait a bit longer for it to reach 1250, but hopefully it will soon, but most importantly, I hope that it doesn't crash. This has been such a great year for Bitcoin and it would be great if it could stay that way. |

There's still room for another $100-$300 rise, etf decision is to be taken on 11th march. if approved as you said sky is the limit else the price goes down. |

And it's really amazing to see bitcoin is increasing seemingly and looks like it will beat the ATH that happened a month ago. Its making me believe that its price will keep on rising but also I'm worried with dump.
Worrying cant really be removed on each bitcoin users specially to those who invest big on bitcoin and actually i was really expecting that thing would happen because bitcoins price doesnt tend to go up and up all the time there are times it would surely drop its price again. |

Yeah every exchanger does have a price difference. Just choose which what you're looking.
I never thought this is will become a matter because when I wanted to know the price of bitcoin, just change the BTC conversion to dollars in my wallet blockchain.info. And now touched $ 1,205 in blockchain.info

it's above $1200 already, but i remember the peak of 2013 higher than this, like around $1260-80? i could be wrong though
this time the dump can't be under $1k anymore, the next dump should be between $1200 and 1500, this make $1000 the new bottom

It did touched and went over $1200 today but also I witnessed a drop of $80 in less than 15 minutes like someone is just pumping the Bitcoin price to $1200 and dump. For those who are into short term investments this is the best time to buy and sell. Price is still unpredictable but raise and fall of the price can be taken advantage.

How much of an impact would the SEC decision on the ETF have on bitcoin? If ever anyone of them is denied or all of them for that matter, will the price react negatively or will it hold and move on from there? The price has withstood the PBOC situation and if this ETF things turns out to be good for bitcoin, then we can really expect the price to reach over $1500 in a few weeks.

It is too risky to buy now, in my opinion. Buy time was last summer. I am fine with my stack at the moment and do not plan to buy any further now. I doubt we cross $1500, let alone $2k. ETF has very little to do with that. But, for what is worth, I was same sceptical about crossing $1100. |

i guess there will be many traders that getting the price when it reach under $1200 and waiting the next pumping and now the price is in $1198 and i think the price will be increase again like before. but if you are not sure to buy in that price, maybe we can wait a while to see the down trend with the price. today is a good day when i can see bitcoin price is reach more than $1200 although after reach that limit, the price is getting down too soon but there is still have a chance to gets up again. |

I don't even believe that the price is tied to this. It's still more of the effect of the halving and increased projects and general adoption. |

The spectacular recovery we saw after dipping to $1094 and now all the way up to $1201 shows how bitcoin is super bullish and any dips will keep getting bought. The collective mind has a way higher price before any relevant correction happens. We are considering anywhere from $1,500 to $5,000, so there is a danger in losing your position if you sell to early.

Would be good if stabilizing there. Nobody with some experience will buy at that level. Investors don't "invest" at ATHs. We are only slow sellers at the moment. But staying 4 digits can prove handsome to establish a notation of something beeing invaluable. The usual associations: silver, gold, enriched uranium, plastic bags full of Amazon gift certificates. |

The price doesn't have to double after halving, it is about buyers and sellers. Take the first halving for example. Remember also that with each halving there is 50% less coins left to be mined. That means more coins in the circulation and presumably more hands that want to dump it, if the price to sell is attractive. That has to be compensated by more new money flowing in, otherwise the price will decline. |

bitcoin prices really go up and almost touched the $ 1,200 price. I believe, tomorrow for sure the price has exceeded $ 1,200. the speed of price increase is happening so fast. I just hope that these prices will be completely stable in the long term.
I think the price will still not touch at $1200 value and i think the price could be still stay long in this price.. or the price could be decrease soon.. Just lets hope that the price of bitcoin will not go down below $1000 if its happen the price could be increase and touch to $1200. What do you guys mean? 1220 was hit last night. We've already hit 1200 several times There is strong resistance at $1200 levels. We hit it only fleetingly. As soon as we cross $1200, a fresh wave of profit booking starts. Well, bitcoin really reached a high price for this time. I was really surprised when I saw the price of bitcoin above $ 1,200. Well, I'm sure that bitcoin prices will continue to rise and rise until it reaches $ 2,000 price at the end of the year.

When the bitcoin price hit the price of 1200$ per coin it always decrease fast it almost 50$ lost and still decrease there are investors of coins don't want to lose profit thats why when the price of bitcoin hit more than 1170$ plus they automatically sell their coins.

Even if it gets rejected and I believe it WILL get rejected, I think they price might stay up.
Totally exspected, due to halving effects. If it has been fivehundreds before halving, you can experience 2x of that afterwards. The price doesn't have to double after halving, it is about buyers and sellers. Take the first halving for example. Remember also that with each halving there is 50% less coins left to be mined. That means more coins in the circulation and presumably more hands that want to dump it, if the price to sell is attractive. That has to be compensated by more new money flowing in, otherwise the price will decline. The first has been more influenced by emission rate, since there had not been millions of BTCs floating around. For a currency that got dubbed beeing deflationary by nature the inflation has been horrendous high. Today one needs a way bigger lever to move this big mass of a $18,000,000,000 Marketcap. Only the blocksize debate could mess with it, not a single trading entity. If Segwit fails, BU stuck, people loosing patience perhaps. |

it's above $1200 already, but i remember the peak of 2013 higher than this, like around $1260-80? i could be wrong though
this time the dump can't be under $1k anymore, the next dump should be between $1200 and 1500, this make $1000 the new bottom

It may be that ounce.me shows a slightly higher price than preev.com and others, but I use ounce.me as they also show gold and other precious metals prices. In some countries (exchanges) had shown different price too, slightly different but Japan might has the highest exchange rate right now. I just know about this site, ounce, good reference I think as it show some precious metals value. Bitcoin price almost reached another ATH than in 2013 at mtgox but people couldn't wait for sell their bitcoin. I admit the price is so tantalize and already fall to $1150 again, but if we always fall to sell in every rise, when we will reach higher point? We should be patient about it. |

Different exchange prices are the result of the free market we are moving in. I always tend to look at the all time high of what I consider to be the most important/leading exchange, which in this case is Bitstamp. Bitfinex is leading when it comes to their daily volume, but I lost complete faith in that exchange after everything that happened last year. |

I guess you meant $1,250 and $1,210.
I think 1200 was just momentary hike as it stayed hardly for few hours. Most probably bitcoin would stay over 1100 this coming month and may even rise over the ETF. |

I think, for the moment, bitcoin is very difficult to survive above the price of $ 1,200. when bitcoin reaches that price, the price probably will only last a few hours, or days. I know, so many people are targeting those prices, to sell their bitcoin.

Halving may be used as a an excuse to pump the coin, but in the long run, it is as you wrote: you have more coins in circulation and thus you need each time more new money flowing in, in order to keep it going. it is a bit off topic here but let me tell you that the effects of halving always shows in the long term not right after the halving. as you can see from the charts. the effect that you see before or generally those days, is mostly hype so you are kinda right. but not about halving. the main effect of the halving is the "dump" or supply in the market. supply is not the coins available but the coins sold. and when the reward is big, the dump by miners is big hence the supply is bigger. and it halves when the halving happens. |

Not sure about this but the Indians buying high for the last month sure did us wonders, might still be happening but then again there seems to be some entity selling low on the market to prevent a stable $1200 price point |
