are asics the best option or am i better off waiting for bitcoin to stabilize

I think if you want to only mine for bitcoins and see the development in the long run, you will need to get an asic to mine in a profitable way, as GPU mining will become to unprofitable as difficulty will increase tremendously once the asics start spreading

With the exception of hard to get and very expensive Avalon units, ASICs are vaporware right now.  Rather than dote on ASICs I just went and bought a couple 7970 GPUs to get in.  Sure they may not pay off but I almost look forward to the day ASICs go mainstream so I can do some gaming. Cheesy
