We aren't getting Coin subforums (confirmed) so no point asking anymore. However maybe now it's time for Alt-Coin users to start using respective forums (litecoin and terracoin both have their own forums).

There are so many people here and so many threads it's impossible to follow anything here anymore.

more or less retired.

Even if we had subforums, having everything about one coin in one forum (no separation for development / technical support, marketplace, etc) isn't the ideal way to go either.

Cryptocurrencies needs to heavily promote their own forum, instead of (for example) PPCoin linking to here.

I agree, the litecoin forums seem to be rather active (relatively). But the gravity of bitcointalk has always seemed to overwhelm efforts to branch out.

The problem is if those subforums start to exist, then it would do the opposite of promote the actual forums of the respective currencies. Technically this is a Bitcoin forum, not an alt-coin forum.

There should be a trading subforum and all these buying selling xyzcoins should go there. There are too many users not adhering to the etiquette of having on thread per xyzcoin for trading, but rather creating their own thread for one particular trade/auction.

I'd like to see a structure under the alt-coin forum similar to the main Bitcoin forum. As that is not going to happen perhaps another option to put forward it to spin the alt-coin forum into its own site with a single-sign-on system linked with here Smiley

Has any legitimate reason been given as to why subforums won't be added here, or is it just hard headedness?

They are clearly needed, and I believe the alt-coin community overwhelmingly supports the idea.

Charlie Kelly: I'm pleading the 5th.  The Attorney: I would advise you do that.  Charlie Kelly: I'll take that advice under cooperation, alright? Now, let's say you and I go toe-to-toe on bird law and see who comes out the victor?  The Attorney: You know, I don't think I'm going to do anything close to that and I can clearly see you know nothing about the law.

A subforum for trading then..? It would improve things a lot.

I just registered altcointalk.org before I read this post.

I think I'll put something up over the next few weeks when I have time.

I think it is fair enough that this is predominantly a Bitcoin forum. Bitcoin deserves and should have its own forum: it is the crypto gold standard after all and I love it Smiley

Don't forget that MinCoin also has its own forums.

you can visit it at ->MinCoinTalk.com

How about an altcoin board on another site, with separate sections for each coin/currency?  And a very liberal policy as far as what coins get their own board.

Failing that, I'd love to at least see one altcoin subforum here for trading.  Could SaltySpitoon give us that?  Separating out all of the altcoin economic activity from all the other altcoin threads would probably make a big difference.

One Altcoinforum would be best. To look at several different mini-coin-forums sucks.
