Some are connected through PAN which is Personal Area Network. For example if I am in the office and my 2 friends are in another office and we want to share data with each other we create a PAN through our mobiles. There is also MAN which is Metropolitan Area Network for example all New York and Chicago is extended through these 2 cities.

A network is defined as a group of two or more computer systems linked together. There are many types of computer networks, including the following: local-area networks (LANs): The computers are geographically close together (that is, in the same building).

Check your internet cables. If everything is on its places. Then look at the wifi icon on your computer. Check your router. Pay attention to the one that designates connection to the Internet. If that light is out, the wifi isn’t channeling an Internet connection. Also I suggest to see this webpage http://192-168-1-1.one it will help you ro figured out with the router settings. Before you do anything else, restart your router and modem. You might have just temporarily hit a bug and a quick reboot will fix it.
