You can start from here:

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mixing_service

Using bitcoins is an excellent way to stay anonymous while making your purchases, donations, and p2p payments, without losing money through inflated transaction fees. But Bitcoin transactions are never truly anonymous. Bitcoin activities are recorded and available publicly via the blockchain — a comprehensive database which keeps a record of bitcoin transactions. And when you finally use Bitcoin to pay for goods and services, you will of course need to provide your name and address to the seller for delivery purposes. It means that a third party can trace your transactions and find ID information. To avoid this, such mixing service provide the ability to exchange your bitcoins for different ones which cannot be associated with the original owner.

Prior to the advent of trustless alternatives, mixing services (also called tumblers) were used to mix one's funds with other people's money, intending to confuse the trail back to the funds' original source. In traditional financial systems, the equivalent would be moving funds through banks located in countries with strict bank-secrecy laws, such as the Cayman Islands, the Bahamas and Panama.

When mixing bitcoins, you send your money to an anonymous service and, if they are well-intentioned, they will send you someone else's tainted coins. So, now, whatever those coins were used for may now be traceable back to you. Additionally, mixing large amounts of money may be illegal, being in violation of anti-structuring laws.

Did you type all of that or just copy pasted?

I'm kinda new to bitcoin, so can someone tell me what's bitcoin mixer?
When you receive considerably large amounts in several bitcoin addresses and those are known addresses and you want to move them all into one final destination address without people finding out that those funds all ended up in one place, you'll use a mixer.
When you have stolen bitcoins and want to stay undetected by exchanges while trying to launder the stolen coins by trading altcoins you'll use a mixer.
Those are the 2 important use cases of mixing services.

Bitcoin mixers are basically the equivalent of money launderers. They are used to disguise the source of funds and are usually an attempt to hide criminal activities. If you use a mixing service, assume that you are sending money to scammers who will have no problem ripping you off.

It appears that bleach also has the same capability, to hide or better say completely clean the blood what no one is blaming the manufacturer Cheesy.
For a mixer to be profitable and successful and to sustain long term, stealing money is financial suicide and since you can send large amounts in several small transactions you are safe from being ripped off, and of course you should never send your coins to any mixer blindly there is a good reason why services like bitmixer are on top because they can be trusted as it seems, so unless you have proof of some service scamming it's not going to cut it if you categorize all as scammers.

MtGox was trusted. Cryptsy was trusted. These were otherwise legitimate services that were on a much bigger scale - yet through fraud, incompetence or negligence they evaporated almost overnight. Coin mixers might allow thousands of small scale transactions go through, they just need that one whale who deposits 100 btc and they disappear into the night. So yes, I will assume they are scammers because what they're doing is illegal with fiat money. coinmixer.net ranks third for "Bitcoin Mixer", yet it is run by a well known scammer - you put too much faith in search engine rankings.

Bitmixer will not turn to scam for the simple fact that they make much more money by continuing to work honestly as they have done until now. Another fact that reinforces my view is that Bitmixer a long time ago allowed investors to invest in their site and minimum amount was 100 BTC and nothing happened to them. Many whales have used Bitmixer so far and nothing happened so just make sure to use good mixing services with only positive reviews.

Your concerns are valid, but being too skeptical can also be damaging. In cases like these, as mentioned by the poster under you, you should use long-standing services that have built up their reputation strongly:

Bitmixer will not turn to scam for the simple fact that they make much more money by continuing to work honestly as they have done until now.
Bitmixer is entering its 4th year of operation AFAIK. Mixers still have a very good place in the ecosystem until decentralized solutions such as JoinMarket are primed for easy usage.

I'm kinda new to bitcoin, so can someone tell me what's bitcoin mixer?

few users above already answer on the part: "what is a bitcoin mixer", so I won't back on it, as their answer above was already useful, but, if you want to use a bitcoin mixer, choose is careful: most of them a scammy ... unfortunately.

just an advice: if you want to mix your coins, DONT use any clearnet mixers! never !

grams have made "Helix"  (their own mixing service ), and even if it's not the cheapest one in term of fees, it's probably one of the most reputable and honest ones.

Kind regards

First you need to know why we should mix our coins.

While using bitcoins is an excellent way to make your purchases, donations, and p2p payments, without losing money through inflated transaction fees, transactions are never truly anonymous. Bitcoin activities are recorded and available publicly via the blockchain; a comprehensive database which keeps a record of bitcoin transactions.

Here's a link to know about one of the trusted mixer in the industry.

Hope this helps.

Bitcoin mixer is used to make you more anonimous using a third party to make you untraceable. You can do mixing using exchanges or bitcoin mixing service. Bitcoin mixing service is commonly used buy people with bad intentions. Usually you can see it on deepweb and only few on clearnet. I never use bitcoin mixing service before and never gonna use one.

you're right, but anyway, NONE  clearnet mixing service can offer you a real kind of anonymity .... even if you use a proxy.

that's said.  if one of them pretend the opposite you should be aware it  just lie...

That is complete bullshit and a false generalization. Do tell us what tools are being used to kill any 'anonymity' on clearnet mixers? You sound like one of those people that think ToR or I2P is fool-proof. Roll Eyes

you're right, but anyway, NONE  clearnet mixing service can offer you a real kind of anonymity .... even if you use a proxy.

that's said.  if one of them pretend the opposite you should be aware it  just lie...
That is complete bullshit and a false generalization. Do tell us what tools are being used to kill any 'anonymity' on clearnet mixers? You sound like one of those people that think ToR or I2P is fool-proof. Roll Eyes

LOL .. read what i had said correctly .. what is your problem exactly ? hoooo i see : you drive a sig campaign for one of those mixers scam loosers  ?  Grin

and by the way : no: tor or i2p are not really secure ( by themselves ), as many  fools like you could hide under TOR exit nodes..
go away ..

You said it doesn't provide any kind of 'real anonymity', yet you didn't explain why. This effectively makes your uneducated opinion worthless.

Bitmixer has proven itself not to be a scam. As expected of your foul mouth.

No Tor needed what so ever if you are using web wallets or not using a Core wallet at your home or facility, if you are using your own full node as wallet then using Tor makes sense but not to mix coins just to hide your IP.

Any mixer service not doing like the image above is doing it wrong.

Scammers and loosers my ass dude shut up before they make you disappear from the face of the earth lol he will think I'm joking after reading this but I'm not, imagine how they are operating in an environment where multinational intelligence agencies are the dominant party.
