well sure, if you have two or more GPUs then it's probably ok, but with one i doubt it, maybe on really low intensity

Usually people use cards only for mining, and when playing you can stop mining.

Generally you can play at lower intensity of mining, but usually it's not worth it.
I recommend either getting  a second card for mining and keep your current card for playing or stop mining when you play

i have read sth about this, so i know lowering the intensity isnt worth anything.
but what i wanted to know is if i can lower the process priority, so my miner only uses whats free to use.
this wont be much but it would regulate it self. i know it is possible with a cpu

Yes you can play while you mine.. even gpu intensive 3d games. Set lower intensity, agression or whatever term your mining software of choise uses. If you see a crash try even lower, and remove overclocking.

Bitcoin trinkets now on my online store: btc trinkets.com <- Bitcoin Tiepins, cufflinks, lapel pins, keychains, card holders and challenge coins.

I've tried it, it's not really worth it, at least with the cards I had (5830s and 5850s) mining speed was so slow that it would have been better to CPU mine on another PC

I've found that I can mine TRC pretty effectively while gaming, but BTC/LTC/etc aren't possible unless the intensity is way down, and it's not worth it at that point

If you mentioned which miner you're using it would be easier to tell you what you can do.

With most you have control over the number of gpu threads, I suggest lowering it until you're able to game. Chances are you won't have acceptable gaming OR mining performance, unless you really have a beast of a card.

i have the guiminer
i think the command for lowering the gpu usage would -f(x)
of course i can try to find the right x for every game
isnt it possible to reduce the priority of guiminer in the gpu like it is possible to reduce the priority of cpu processes with the taskmanager
