My bitcoin exe is gone...

Hello!

I use bitcoin-qt wallet.

I opened it once and closed it, and now a few hours later i want to open it again. I press the start menu and go to the folder, but then i see that the exe icon is not loading, and when i press it it tells me that its gone...

I looked in all folders and cant find it

I had a transfer coming to this wallet, but it was not fully synched.

So how do i resume this transfer?


Can i reinstall and insert my old "address" or something?

I have not done anything yet.

But i read about that, if i do save that file, can i reinstall and put it in there and it will work as the old address?

I think so, that's the way I understand it. However I am a bit of a newbie to Bitcoin so does anyone else know if I am right on this?

You need to backup your old wallet.dat
To do that on Windows: Go to Start Menu > Run (or press WinKey+R) and run: explorer %APPDATA%\Bitcoin
wallet.dat is the file you need to backup

you can reinstall it. when already a wallet.dat exist it wont create a new

ok i did save the .dat and now i reinstalled and it seems to work! I have the same address!
