Could you point out the message in that thread that discusses a hack of 1000BTC?  I can't find anything.

No looks like it was hacked-hacked.  Read the third last post or so this page:

What is worse is Graet seemed to have borrowed a lot of coins to cover for what he thought was a config error that caused his wallet to be drained. And that was then taken as well.

edit2: website was vandalized as well, as an extra kick in the head . Feel terrible for this pool owner, seems like a genuine good guy.

~700BTC was lost in PPS SNAFU of 2-3 days ago, and this morning or last night, ~934BTC was lost from Ozco.in payout script being hacked, apparently. Most recent loss is talked about on page 101 and beyond.
