You have to decide NOW how many bitcoins will make you rich in the future because it's getting to the point where an upper middle class American or European can no longer buy a full bitcoin.
Anyone have any ideas how many you'll need to be rich in 2020 and 2025?

No one know the price bitcoin will reach but you can make some calculations lets suppose that for you being rich means having 100k dollars if you think bitcoin is going to have a value of 5k by 2025 then you need just 20 bitcoins at current prices you will need close to 25k to get them, personally I will wait since the ETF decision is coming soon and that may lower the price of bitcoin a little bit.

Well good luck. If even Westerners can't buy bitcoins in bulk, imagine how it is for us that live in 3rd World countries. I hear a lot of people talking about aiming for at least BTC21 but that is quickly becoming harder to reach without shelling out a lot of fiat to convert. BTC21 is more than a million in my currency so getting that much within a year or two would be close to impossible for me. I'm just focusing more on finding ways of earning more bitcoin and how to grow them so I can then use it to fund something I can manage (for example, an actual business that is not online).

This time last year I was discouraged when bitcoin was trading between 230$ to 450$ but now I am happy bitcoin is trading above 1200$. With few hundred of bitcoin I will become a rich man from the side of the world I come from. For now I will keep on hold to what I have if possible till bitcoin will be trading above 2500$

IMO Bitcoins are nolonger an attractive entry point of investment for any crypto enthusiasts looking to invest for a long time, but I would suggest buying altcoins that show potential to grow and will payoff in the long run as demand for them keeps growing. But then again bitcoins are full of surprises and have the potential to pay handsomely regardless of what price you buy them for. Lets buy what we can afford, we can be rich one day.

Sure go ahead and buy millions of sh*t coins for your grandchildren when price was under $500 just less than 6 months ago anyone bought even half a million bitcoins now could've sold out all 500k BTC double or more of the price within just a week. Currently there are thousands of millionaires familiar with crypto but what is stopping them from hoarding and stashing bitcoins today? Fear, and that is the main reason for them not to invest heavily by accumulating coins over time, but future belongs to the bold and fearless people not skeptics and cowards.

Well i think bitcoin can be still increase more and if we choose to invest our money in altcoin that we do not know if they will be grow like bitcoin.. For me its impossible that there are some altcoin that will be the same as bitcoin.. until now no growing altcoin that touch in $100 each or much more.. so for me bitcoin can be still give us more profit than the other crypto currency..

At the end of the day it doesnt really mater if the average american cant afford to buy a single bitcoin, thats why biotcoins can be broken down into bits. The bigger problem is not how much it costs for a bitcoin but how much an everyday transaction costs. The more a bitcoin costs the more the transaction fees are it would appear. At this rate one day the average american may be able to buy some bits but never afford to send a transaction =p

When you buy bitcoins, ther is often a minimum amount of bitcoins you have to take, for example 0.1 btc. For people with not that much money, or newbies who just want to test it out a bit, that amount might already be too high. I think with an increasing price combined with a minimum amount that has to be bought, the bitcoin currency in general really gets out of reach for many people. Not only the price for one single bitcoin.

If we understand "Upper middle class" in the US to refer to someone with a household income of, say, $80,000, then of course they can still buy full bitcoins. It's just a question of how they prioritize their savings and spending.
In any case, bitcoin will never be "out of reach" because it is completely arbitrary to speak of bitcoin only in whole numbers. If it goes to the moon there will be plenty of people happy to own just a fraction of a bitcoin.

It is hard to decide especially when there are emergencies that you need money. Your savings is being reduced every time you need money, but you can't really help it when you need it. But I'll say maybe, maybe a thousand? That's really enough for me.

I do agree with you as the time goes by bitcoins price does really increase on which most of us can't buy or able to get to a whole bitcoin since its to expensive but we can still buy on fractions which means we can gradually save up for future and those people have capability to do so then they do have the advantage.

Well we are all steadily watching it rise but your question can't be answered conclusively because we might not know how much Bitcoin will be selling in 2020 and 2025 and so if I'm to go by today's prices then I will need anywhere 100 BTC and above.

Bought 0.1 today at 1000GBP lol maybe im mad but it disposable income so finger crossed Last time I bought was when they were 500GBP and I thought I was taking a risk then. You can never know. Better to take a punt and regret it rather than not take a punt and really regret it.

It would depend on how rich you want to be. I have seen a lot of threads talking about being part of the 1% with 21 bitcoins, perhaps that might just be enough.

if mr average continues to be able to afford one whole coin then that means it's not fulfilling its potential. maybe $10,000 is possible by 2020-25. for that to be truly life changing in a first world country you could do with a minimum of 200 so it's already unattainable.

As you yourself mentioned, bitcoin is getting beyond a common men reach so even to buy 20 bitcoin today, one must be really rich and there are millions of people in developing countries who have never earned that much money in one go.

Everyone has their own definition of "being rich". Some will say 20, 30 or even 5000 BTC. but since the value of Bitcoin is tied to the Price the market sets it to be, Being " Bitcoin-rich" would mean having much more bitcoins to yourself. I'm no greedy but 2000 BTC should do just fine

If the rising trend of bitcoin continues till 2020-2025,BTC price would be $10k per bitcoin. Also if $ keep its strong position in international market,I think even 5 btc would be enough for one to be rich. It also depends on which country you live in.
