Does litecoin take more electricity to mine for it that bitcoin or are they the same?

Are there any energy efficient coins to mine?

I think https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=163306.0 has some power consumption stats.  In general I think it is... my cards seem to run the fans more than when I mine SHA-256.

PPCoin has some grounding in enviromnental concerns but I haven't read into it that much.  They have a white paper on the coin on their site. http://www.ppcoin.org/static/ppcoin-paper.pdf
