BFL Clarification

So there are plenty of threads about BFL on this forum. The general gist of them is, that their products have been delayed for months while they continue to take everyone's money. It may yet turn out to be a scam, or they may ship everyone's devices.

Yet there's this thread, from a year ago, about people that already have these boxes, and are talking about getting them working on OS X: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=79511.0

What am I missing here?
