TV Box and Bitcoin - Copyright infringement or going legal

I visited a friend today, and he showed me his new Android TV Box with with nice Ad-ons installed. Most of the stuff are legal steaming, but some

are pirated copyright material. The "feeders" are even posting their Bitcoin address for donations. Now this is something that are going to bring a

lot of unnecessary heat to Bitcoin and we will all be blamed for this.

It actually made me think that even though this is highly illegal, this will never be stopped. So why not get some legal way to do this .... create a

App, where people can "share" certain material and when payment are done... let a big percentage of that go into the owner of this content's

Bitcoin address.

We have seen what happened to the music industry and how it adapted to these challenges.... why not the movie industry?

80% / 20% cut for them .... 20% for the bandwidth and storage you have to pay for.

the issue with bitcoin and these adhoc tv boxes is that it becomes harder to validate the bitcoin address is linked to a service that will pay the source without things getting centralised and organised.

yes 'universal studios' could publish a public key and people can make a payment that is X to the addon Y to universal studios. whereby the show/movie only streams if it sees the 2 outputs. but due to the open source nature of these tx boxes and addons.. they can be hacked

it would require a central 'manager' to API out a activation key to allow a stream to roll and a mechanism to prevent it without such recognised payment

never underestimate the unwillingness of people to squeeze out of paying for something. those who don't mind are happy with their netflix and stuff.

the ones who do will never give money to another pirate when they can do it themselves.

these box streamers would just get rid of the app if a bitcoin address popped up.

and a "voluntary donation" option were given. {unsupervised} .... about 8 out of 10 people in this experiment gave some sort of donation. So

there are some people out there that understand that you have to give something to get something. If "piracy" goes on like this, the movie

industry will stop producing and content will not be available to be distributed.

but those people are physically present when they receive what they're asked to donate for. it's a different ball game if it's a few clicks that rips off a huge corporation.

what really needs to be done to wipe out alot of this is streamline the rights and territories situation that screws up how the legit streamers and download places operate. they need to deliver more convenience. it's getting there but it's not enough yet.

some guy in pakistan isn't gonna wait five months for a butchered game of thrones to show up when he get it now from somewhere dodgy.

most people would pay for that. it would take me months to download and sift through the bad files of what i can watch in a couple of days on netflix.

the sooner the content providers realise that they have to adapt to the users the better, because the users will always have the option of bypassing them to get what they want.

I saw that many torrent or pirated film websites are accepting donations via PayPal. Users also can buy memberships with it. But only bitcoin receives negative attitude for being used for illegal things.
Would be people interested to pay with bitcoins for legal content? Hard to answer. Services like Netflix have strong positions and mostly people are happy to use it. It would be hard to compete with these services because they have rights for most of legal content.

though unsupervised by the food giver. most people in a public place close together around a table feel extra guilt if they just took food and walked away. so they pay due to 'peer pressure' of not looking like a cheap-ass.

but in the bedroom of your own house where no one is there to judge you. less chance of peer pressure persuading you to pay something.

this is why people rattling donation tins for red cross or other organisations, get better success not standing in the street because people walk on by.. but if they go into a bar and find a group of say 5-10 people who know each other.. that peer pressure sinks in. if one person pays. suddenly everyone checks their pocket just because they dont like to look like a cheapskate infront of their social group. usually  6/10 put something into a tin. compared to 1/100 on the street

studies have been done on this. social/peer pressure outweighs individual moral decision

1.The people who "share" that material have to ask for the content owner`s permission before they "share" his/hers content.It doesn`t matter if they pay a percentage or no.
2.They will never pay a percentage,because they are greedy and want to make money from something stolen.
I don`t see a problem with bitcoin used for such donations.
