How Profitable is Mining Pool

Currently thinking of setting up a mining pool. I know there has being considerable hype about it, but on the whole I've not being able to get exact expected returns when one sets up one.

Experienced in the house can give me heads up. How would you rate expected returns on investment for mining, 10%, 20%, 30%, or more?

I think I should specify, cause bitcoin mining isn't obviously an all comers affair. I'm referring to altcoins mining
