Is there any penalty to your bitcoin mining performance when you go with merged mining?  For instance, on BTCGuild, will I produce bitcoins any slower if I submit to mergedmining.btcguild.com vs. when I submit to stratum.btcguild.com?

I don't believe so.

Someone correct me here, but as far as I understand all your work is just being submitted to more than one network.

Someone correct me here, but as far as I understand all your work is just being submitted to more than one network.

It's something tricky with the hases, but it shouldn't create any extra work.
