I have been working with this MOBO for a build for over a month now, many many hrs of troubleshooting. Everything from X - Y I have tried. I came close a few times but ultimately would be stuck at the black screen when 4G/Crytpo mining mode enabled.

Last night I have seen the light.

If you are having black screen issues, you have to do a clean install of Windows 10 UEFI. Install with only 1GPU connected, once everything is running, chipset, drivers, etc. Shutdown make sure Crytpo mode and GEN 1 are selected before connecting the rest of the cards. Turn her on, they will slowly reconize and drivers will install for the remaining cards.

I have verified this works for me 3 times now. I only still can say this works on RX cards, I started trying to use AMD Furys when I began this process, but gave up on this mobo and used them on something else.

Something with the PCI bus assignment needs to be virgin with W10 and this 7 GPU/Mobo setup.

Now I am moving on to tweaking the cards. Looking to lower power consumption to minimize heat for the summer. All cards have memory timing mod applied.

Thanks creepAs!

Did you also tried to run it with 7 rx500 cards?

Has anyone used this mobo with the simple mining OS installed? I'm planning on picking up a few, but not if 7 GPUs works only in Windows. @Rocketron's issues with ethOS has me concerned that any linux OS might have problems with this mobo.

Guys,

just download the bios.

Only setting you need to turn on is Cryptocurrecy mining to enable.

BE SURE you have WINDOWS 10 in UEFI mode instaled.

I have instaled 30+ rigs all with 7 cards and it just works fine. All mobo there are MSI Z170A GAMING PRO CARBON 7GPU.

All cards i have in rigs are MSI RX 480 Gaming 8 GB.

It will work even with other cards as well. No need to adjust any other bios setings. Only think you need is to enable cryptocurrency mining.

Thats it.

If anything write me on skype... cReepas.

Best regards

cReepas

what are you talking about lol there is no such setting "Cryptocurrecy mining" in any brand of bios MSI or otherwise

i got a MSI Z270-A Pro yesterday and installed it, and in the bios, just like that guy, there is that pcie settings : 4gb decoding / crypto mining
before it used to say only 4gb decoding.

i enabled it as well and system works very well with only 4 rx 480 for now. tonight i'm gonna try to add a 5th and a 6th card in it.

Hello,

I flashed with cReepas bios mod but a problem keeps happening.
Device manager see the 7 GPU and the UEFI OS boot perfect (w10) everything seems to be Ok.

Then i run Claymore, when it's setting DAG for GPU0, it gives error:
GPU 0, OpenCL error -4 (0) - cannot create DAG on GPU

Sometimes it's GPU0, GPU2, GPU3...
The thing is that Claymore won't work with 7 GPU, just with 6.

After it start mining, WATCHDOG Error and the miner restart.

Have 2 RIG with this error, both of them with cReepas bios mod.

When i disable 1 GPU in device manager (anyone), Claymore start mining perfectly.

I'm using Crimson 16.9.2. Win 10. Sap Nitro+ RX 480 8GB OC. Z170A Carbon. EVGA 1600w. 4GB DDR4. Intel G4400.

What do you think guys? Why is this happening?

Added cReepas to skype btw

HI guys, I wondered if any of you know about issue when pcie_05 doesn't detect GPU on a riser. Tried with many different risers and it doesn't detect it at all, linux and windows. When I put whole GPU inside it works. tnx

Hi everyone,

With the shortage of the asrock h81 pro btc board, I started looking at some alternatives, one of which is this board.

I know people are able to do a bios update and run 7 rx400 cards on the mobo. My questions is, how do I properly power 7 470 cards and risers from an EVGA g2 1300W PSU? Is there a post on this forum explaining that, that I might have missed?

Thanks

If you have the same EVGA that I have - https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438011 - it has connectors for 8 GPUs, as long as at least 2 of them are only 6 pin (instead of 8 pin) GPUs. If you are using powered risers they would either be connected with molex connectors or with 6 pin to sata adapters. I am using these risers so far - http://www.parallelminer.com/product/ithoo-usb3-0-pci-express-1x-to-16x-extender-riser-card-adapter-w-24-cable/ - Hope that helps. Smiley

Yup, that's the PSU. So the 7th GPU goes into the second CPU slot? I am looking at the 570's, and they all come with 8 pins

Hello,

just wanted to say that we run sucesfully 7 GPU MSI RX 480 8 GPU on multiple rigs with no problems.

We have custom BIOS that i post in this link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/bk22xpc6afayexc/E7A12IMS.7Z?dl=0

There is option cryptomining just turn it on.

Important info: it works only on UEFI Win 10.

So be sure you have it.

If you need any help just post it here or send message.

Best regards

cReepas

thanks for good job. i have two rigs. one is running with 7 gpu with this firmware. Other rig is working good with 1.7 stock bios.
I just tried to connect m2 port to a m2 to pcie adapter but system doesn't detect the gpu connected to the adapter... does anybody knows some bios mod or additional setting to get it works or it depends from hardware/chipset limitations? thanks for helping.
