Hi Did you get this working?  My wallet password is broken too after the upgrade and it seems after a reboot.  It worked on 0.5.1 after the upgrade and I recall the password worked 2 or 3 times but today I booted up and it does not work.

I used my words to restore the password but it just sits there with a status of "working."  So frustrating!  Every time a new version comes out there is 'corrupt wallets' or some bug that kills the entire wallet.

Any Ideas?

I posted some solutions in this post. The short version of them is to import your multibit seed into breadwallet on your iPhone if you have one. If you do install breadwallet make sure it's the real one because there are fakes that will steal your coins. If you don't have an iPhone you can also install breadwallet on the latest android phones.

If you have an older android phone you could try installing mycelium on it and importing your multibit seed into that. This post explains a few configurations you might have to do to get mycelium to show your balance.

If you have no phone or don't want to risk your bitcoins on a phone then there's a way to get your private keys from your multibit seed, but it requires some technical work. You import your seed into an offline copy of a special webpage, configure it, and it generates a list of your multibit addresses and their corresponding private keys. This post and others in the same thread explain how to do it. If you choose to use an offline copy of the webpage I recommend running it in a virtual machine disconnected from the internet to be extra safe, and deleting the virtual machine after you get your private keys.

There are still options how to restore access?
Prompt the instruction of restoration through android and whether it is safe?

I have never used breadwallet, but if your phone has Android 6.0 or higher you can install it. Afterwards you can put your your multibit seed phrase into breadwallet to restore access to your multibit addresses in breadwallet. Other bitcointalk users say they have successfully done it.

However, this story from themerkle says there have been numerous fake bread wallet apps.

https://themerkle.com/another-malicious-breadwallet-clone-appears-in-the-apple-app-store/

To get the real breadwallet scroll to the bottom of the official website and click the button that says "get it on google play". This is the official website.

You could try installing mycelium and importing your multibit seed words into that instead, although I'm not absolutely certain it will work. This is a quote from the mycelium announcement thread.

The Mycelium Bitcoin Wallet is a Bitcoin wallet for Android and the successor of BitcoinSpinner.
It was initially announced in the BitcoinSpinner forum thread as an early beta.

*snip*

It says you can download mycelium from here.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mycelium.wallet

However, you might have to use Mycelium's "Rescan Account" option after importing your multibit seed to get it to show your balance. Also, I don't know for certain it will work because I haven't tested it myself.

Ran into exactly the same problem today. My wallet refused to open with correct password, restoring password from wallet didn't work, restoring wallet from wallet words didn't work too. Downgraded 0.4.1 and opened my wallet with my password without any problems. I'm on Win 10.

For anyone having trouble (you ok bigbbri and user7895?) with their Multibit BTC check out https://multibitwalletrecoveryservice.com/

I've been stuck on this problem for a long time and you can see my post back in 2018 here where I asked for help.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1782552.msg43620117#msg43620117

Got it all recovered.  And got some BCH, BSV and Bitcoin Gold with the sweep service.  Not going to sell any of them, but it's good to have the coins just in case  Wink .
