Hello everyone,

I've been reading posts on this forum for a few mounths now, but this is the first time I post anything (I created this account just for it)

I work for a Fashion Retail company (www.calvinklein.com) but I will only speak on my behalf.
I recently discovered that scammers were trying to sell people false Gift Cards in exchange of Bitcoins.

You can be sure that it is impossible to buy gift cards at a lower value of the card itself, unless someone is very stupid.

My questions are: Do you know someone who has been a victim of such a scam? If yes, did they try to contact the brands customer service to alert them?

Thank you for your time.

Adrien.

I know many people who got scammed this way, I don't think alerting the brands customer service would do anything unless the person who scams uses their platform to do it then they can ban that person or take any action otherwise i doubt they can do anything about it just my opinion though.

Of course it depends on a gift card but i think that none smart person will pay 100% for a gift card, usually its 80-90% depending on the card.

Hi

not really. I myself buy regulary some gift cards via a website, for less than the original price. Ok not a lot less, but something like 8% or 4% is still good to take. People sell their gift cards for 10% less for exemple, and buyers can buy it for a 8% discount. The website makes a small profit of 2%. Rates is not always the same but you got the idea. There are people earnings some gift cards on the web but prefer to get money cash, so they sell it for a smallest value Smiley

I will say it is not true that someone who is stupid is only the person that can sell lower value because sometimes one might need cash in an emergency situation and that might necessitate the need to sell at a value lower than the face value. That also does not remove the fact that there are some who sell fake cards and the reason for that I will ascribed to greediness as well as the motive to make extreme profit. I have also fallen victim but not for Calvin Klein...

It's not true that all the gift card sellers are trying to scam with fake gift cards. Sometimes people get gift cards they simply don't need as presents for their birthdays or for Christmas etc. and they try to sell them later on for less than the face value in order to get rid of them more quickly. There are legit sellers out there for sure.

How do we report anonymous gift card forum scammers to customer support if we only know them by their forum handle? Are you going to report them to the police yourselves or what?
