I see how transparency is key in this industry when people do ICO or have a start up.  So why is so many coins hiding the images of their team or masking them, showing images of pets or other thing and not the founding members images.   How do people invest with no real info from people. links to their facebook to know they are real.  Etc?  If I was investing in a coin I would want to know that.

You can take it two ways.

1. they dont want to be known, if it all goes south. and then if they are not known, they can start another shitcoin and repeat.

2. they fear governments going after them, or in the case of anon coins could be a way for a government to plant a bug in the code if one of the devs are exploited.

The second option is more likely to be real than the first one (which is only applicable for the scam coins). Governments will have to hunt them down if something goes on like reaching a Market Cap (speaking about ALL the Altcoins + Bitcoin together) of over $100 billion. Gold can still be tracked: there are cameras in the buildings where you're going to buy it, you have to sign your name or you need to type in all your personal data if it has to arrive at your home. Bitcoin can't be tracked that easy. If the Market Cap gets to such a big amount, the govs will have to worry about the insane amount of cash being.. transformed into something anonymous which they absolutely HATE!

if those ico have an escrow you don't need transparance, as an investors you are sure that your money are safe, and the only think remaining is the pump and dump on the market, which is all in your hands if you can do the right trading

They do it because they can get away with it.
The scene does not hold people's feet to the fire like they should.

I think exchanges should operate with all the funds they hold public accountable too.
That way we could see a GOX or Cryptsy coming ahead of time.
Of course they whine about security etc which is pure BS.

FUD first & ask questions later™
