This.

I learned about Silk Road early 2012, looked at Silk Road near the end of 2012, and THEN I learned about Bitcoins because of Silk Road.

I imagine it's very different for people in 2013 with all the media attention.

Heard about btc on a fantastic show called Keiser Report on the RT network. I highly recommend it as it is the only finance show that tell it like it is and actually recommends moving away from FIAT altogether.

Internet is a bit general. I needed to pay someone $10 and he recommended Bitcoin because it had lower fees than Paypal.

Could you please give some info on your thesis? What's the topic and where can we follow your findings?

Slashdot ran a story on it.

This.  It was an article about how someone had the cops come to their door thinking they were growing pot, but found their mining farm.

Haha, same!  I spent a week or so researching, and then I already had a radeon that could mine, so I started that som'bitch right up soon as I figured it out.  Then spent my first coins on another card, and then it's been a downhill slide ever since. Smiley  As in mine until I get enough coins for something fun, buy, mine until I can afford something else, and mine, etc.

I'm in a holding pattern for now until price stabilizes again.  I don't have a large mining rig, just a couple 7970s.  But free money is better than no money Smiley

Around when it started appearing on Zerohedge/Seekingalpha (my favorite financial blogs).

Now if I had actually bought then ... well, anyways.

but dunno if its safe to say this in your thesis ...I mean personally I have a strong belief that 80% of non-miners heard about bitcoin and got into it more or less because of SR Smiley))

but it was actually an internet article about SR ...in a newsportal. so I can say the internet and look less like a junkie Smiley)
