https://twitter.com/Bitstamp

Hmm

Infact if you think about it... Why would they start it on time, if they were actually going to do it?

Maybe the whole thing is a decoy..

This sounds like one teenager's fantasy. I doubt there are any real resources behind this idea.

I can't believe this nonsense getting so much attention on here and over at Reddit. Clearly a slow news day in the world of Bitcoin.

I have to say the dearth of interesting stories and speculation discussion over the last few days is making me rather bearish.

Grrr.

I'd agree... seems full of shit.

Some I can believe, but the bit about 250,000BTC. Can't really swallow that one.

That's 30million dollars.. No way they've got that.

$200k to drop below 120. That to me seems like the psychological barrier.

$480k to get to 125

Seems like it wouldn't take much to tip the market. Maybe the hoax is enough?

Why ddos bitcoinity if you also ddos mtgox?
Bitcoinity works via the mtgox api.

So yeah, bullocks and just a hoax to get the price down.
They did this before.

To be honest with you, I'm more scared when bitcoinity goes down than Gox.

I'm used to Gox going down now, if bitcoinity takes a hit feels like I'm blind.

Just place some buy orders in the low area, if ir drops you get cheap coins.
If you all start falling for this and try to "soll coins while it's still high", they don't even need to attack.

my bet:

when people realize that the event won't happen - everybody, who was holding his fiat ready to go, starts panic buying and price will top 130 USD today.

I'll voice an opinion during and after attacks but not before - that's really stupid.

Clearly the attackers read this forum thoroughly to gauge sentiment and possible reaction to their little kiddie games.

If anything good comes of this fake attack it is that the "huddled masses" will be more desensitized to FUD. They will be even more cognizant of the fact that things on the internet are often times completely made up.

Yeah...

Less than 10 mins, you'd think if people were on edge you'd start to see some sharp selling right now.

Why wait till 15:30 exactly?

Then again if there's any legitimacy you'd think it would happen exactly on time.

The obvious scam to pull is:

Announce DDoS and coordinated selloff
Only do a small selloff or just the DDoS
People think the whole thing is happening so they sell

Even if there is a DDoS, hopefully people don't fall for it.
